Is Business Just Common Sense?

Is business success just common sense? A lot of people think so. They think if you’re smart and you work hard, you will be successful. But you know what? Most people are wrong because it’s not common sense to success in business.

How do I know?

First of all, most businesses fail, so it takes uncommon sense to win. The biggest contributor to the high business failure rates is that most people were never trained on how to really make a business run and grow. Most people were never taught what an entrepreneur really is. and who you have to be in your business. Because of that, there’s a major price that’s being paid.

The price is the overwhelming majority of businesses fail, and even those that very few that last and still survive most of them are just glorified jobs, with the owner working his / her butt off to make a salary. They’ve got no freedom. They’re probably working harder than they would ever work for somebody else., and have little to show for it.

It’s a fair statement to say that most small businesses, almost all small businesses, do not reach their potential. The big question is why? Why don’t most small businesses reach their potential?

And while the truth stings… the research backs it up, the main reason for the sad state of affairs for small business online and offline is the entrepreneur’s lack of skills and knowledge (Dunn and Bradstreet).

So what are you doing (besides reading this) to improve your entrepreneurial skills?

In my coaching programs Module #1 is completely focused on becoming a better entrepreneur, and many of my most successful clients have told me that right after that first session they already started thinking differently.

Sunday Night Update…

A quick update and a further explanation as we close out this week.

The programs are going to be amazing, and I have been busy finalizing the materials. If you thought the free materials were good, be prepared to be WOWed! They really are that good.

While I’ve been busy working on the content (from my home office-thank god!), everyone else in my organization is working at a frenzied pace dealing with the overwhelming demand that introducing 700 new clients into our company in less than a week has caused.

There are many of you that still need to be added to our customer database. If you are in the 11 week program and have not received any emails from us please email [email protected] with the subject line “Missing 11 Week.” If you are in the 12 month program, please be patient for now. We are adding the new clients from the 12 month program right now, and we expect to have the job done by the end of the week. (I have three people who are trusted to go through my merchant accounts and I have all three working on getting this done as we speak.)

The 11 week program is starting this week. The 12 month program will start the following week. I will have a lot more updates for everyone this week so make sure to stop by and read any new posts.

The Vultures Are Descending Already

So, I finally got some needed sleep.. opened my email box this morning to find:

1) A teleseminar for the internet marketing community about 7 secrets to a million dollar business being used to pitch some sort of program

2) A pitch for a 6 week teleseminar series on how to get the maximum leverage out of your internet business.

Then I opened an email from a friend and he had found two other promotions geared for the budding internet entrepreneur.

Unbelievable. I guess I should take it all as a compliment, but I don’t. I have spent years perfecting what I now teach, and it all has been proven time and time again. These Johnny-Come-Latelys are just opportunists trying to feed on my table scraps – and they’ll end up hurting the people who put trust in them.

So, if you are one of the people who couldn’t afford what I have offered, please do not go looking for some cheap option. Instead go through my free materials, study them, do your best to apply them and I will have more free materials for you. Yes, I will be busy but I would rather do some extra work and get you what you need, even if I give it away, then be at all responsible for you going down the wrong path with the wrong people.

I know what I’ve said here is controversial, but for 2 years I was the only one working on strategy and systems for internet businesses and within 4 hours of my launch ending all of sudden there are quite a few popping up, it really make me sick, and it should make you sick too.

If you read my work, you already know how important a role I feel your business plays is in your life. That’s why I get so worked up about this. The wrong advice could literally set you years back. Be careful, before you take anyone’s business building advice, see if they have testimonials from people your respect and whose success you would like to emulate. Make them prove to you that they’ve been focused on internet businesses – and that they’ve had more than 10 internet businesses as clients.

OK, I am finished with my rant. Now on to some housekeeping.

TGIF – Wow, I Am Really Happy It’s Friday

Was that a crazy ride or what?

It’s 12:30am, twelve and a half hours since we closed admission to my coaching program. I am still receiving requests to get in (we’ve been getting them all day) and the answer unfortunately is no. It’s not that we don’t have the room, but my staff and I have our hands full right now, and I would rather spend my time focusing on my clients. Also, I learned a long time ago that your word is very important – and I intend to keep mine. A deadline is a deadline.

To all my new clients – You will be hearing from me very shortly, and I am very excited to get started, I believe that you will see more of this group go on to bigger and better ventures then any other group I have worked with.

To all of you who couldn’t take part, I plan on releasing more free content for you, and in the very near future I will be sending out a link to a survey asking what it is you would like from me and what you would be willing to pay for it. If I get some good ideas that don’t diminish the value of what I am providing my clients and doesn’t require an inordinate amount of my time then I will certainly entertain it.

I had a meeting today with the group over at Agora, and I’ve got some awesome stuff planned that I am sure you are all going to flip out over. It’s not a 100% certain yet, but I might be doing a series of calls with some of the business people I respect and have learned the most from. If it ends up happening… you’ll be the first to know.

I need to get back to work right now – but I wanted to say thank you to everyone, it’s a humbling experience to see so many people moved by my work. I certainly want to give more too, and I will. But first I must attend to all my new clients and bring them into the fold.

Keep posting here too – I read every comment, some I respond to by email, some I chose to ignore, and some bring a smile to my face and let me know that all my hard work is worth it.

Front Of The Line Pass Available Tomorrow

As you’re well aware, the buzz surrounding the launch of my coaching program has reached a deafening level. I have my secretary and two virtual assistants working TEN hours per day running the phones and answering email.

The Office Is Under Seige…

My office has been under siege for the past two days and it looks like a horde of English World Cup soccer fans were parked here.

Ever since I released my Internet Business Manifesto, the phone has been ringing non-stop, Sheila my assistant has walked off the job three times because people insist on talking to me about the contents of the manifesto, and Debbie the secretary has told us we’re getting more calls coming in than the call center up stairs.

And to really top things off, my wife and daughters saw what was going on and high tailed it over to the other side of Florida for a “girl vacation.”

Our Alexa ranking is a cool 492 today and over 16,612 people have downloaded the manifesto.

It’s been one of the hottest topics on the Warrior Forum and I’ve been getting rave reviews from people like John Reese, John Carlton, Jim Edwards, and many more.

Here’s what Jim Edward’s told his list:

“Most people don’t know this, but 18 months ago I was so stressed out… strung out… and just plain tired, I was ready to quit the Internet at the “height” of my career…

How Can You Tell If A Customer Is Still A Customer Or Not?

Yesterday my group coaching call centered on customer lifecycles and how to use customer behavior metrics such as latency, frequency, recency, and monetary value to conduct predictive modeling.

The concept here is that the best way to predict a customer’s future behavior is by their current behavior, especially when their behavior can be compared to the aggregate former customer so you can take preventive action and bring them back into your business.

On the flip side, you can also know in advance when a customer is displaying hyper-responsive tendencies so you can make sure that you put offers in front of this customer fast enough so they don’t go somewhere else to quench their thirst for whatever it is you’re selling.

But the question in the title to this entry is an important one, yet sadly, it’s a question 99% of small business owners never even consider.

To make matters worse most small business owners don’t really understand that their customer list is perishable and that without putting future offers in front of their customer lists they become an accomplice in degrading their business’s #1 asset.

If you’ve never considered the above question then you are currently practicing “The Ostrich Theory of Customer Marketing.”

This is where you operate under the false assumption that your customers are customers for life – unless they specifically tell you they are no longer interested in buying from you.

Just to be clear… Every person who ever bought from you is not the definition of a customer.

So, take a look inside your business and get come clarity about your customer life cycle. Then take it even further and define the latencies between each desired customer action.

Lastly, from now on when customers deviate from the customer life cycle don’t stick your head in the sand; create an irrefutable offer that lures the customer back.
