The Attention Age Doctrine ready!
Well, to say the last few weeks have been crazy is an understatement. It’s all worth it though because the response is already overwhelming. I’m confident it will be the most important document you read all year.
Get it now… http://www.strategicprofits.com/doctrine
As I type this blog post, I am being told by the office that our servers are already being over taxed with people downloading my latest document “The Attention Age Doctrine.” Sorry, thought we were all set… we even upgraded all or services for this release because we knew it was going to overshadow the original manifesto.
As your read my advisory, you’ll see that I have included a chance to win PERSONAL advice with several marketing legends. It’s a great chance to show off your marketing chops. You’ll have chance to win cash… and a chance to show off your marketing skill. Plus, who knows what that could do for your business!
All the details are in the Doctrine.
I now need to take a break so I can wrap up the finishing touches on my live seminar we’re doing in two weeks here in South Florida. I’ll be unveiling the strategies I’ve developed to help online business owners to profit from our new Attention-Deficit society.
Now it’s time you got down to some serious reading.
Here’s the link to get your copy of the The Attention Age Doctrine…

A quick note about the release of my new report “The Attention Age Doctrine.”
I’m really, really close to having my new advisory ready for you. Actually, I had planned to release it today… then there was the minor emergency that popped up very early this morning. Don’t worry, everyone at the Schefren home is going to be fine. But it really threw a wrench into my plans.
If you’ve read or commented of my last two posts, you’ll agree that family comes first. Your comments really helped me confirm my suspicion of what’s most important to all of us… and what we can achieve by harnessing and mastering our scarcest resource - our attention.
So now that I’m paying attention to the most important person in my life, today’s release is going to be tomorrow’s release.
I’ve been getting tons of email about the advisory.. especially since my presentation over the past weekend, where I spoke at Jeff Walker’s Product Launch Formula seminar.
Since I didn’t really have too much time to prepare, I decided to summarized what was covered on the first 20 pages.
And you know what?
The crowd was blown away!
I also showed it to a few ‘guru’ friends with the same result. They were completely blown away too.
Their feedback actually shocked me. (I knew it was good, but…WOW!)
I am planning on finishing it once I have made sure all is OK with Debi… which should be later on tomorrow.
If you’ve already reserved your copy, you’ll get an email IMMEDIATELY when it’s ready.
If you haven’t reserved your copy yet - here’s your chance to get it.
Also, Jay Abraham has even agreed to to a teleseminar with me to discuss the impact for you, which will be announced tomorrow.
Reserve your copy here now:
http://www.strategicprofits.com/doctrine
The Attention Age Doctrine will be released on a limited basis. That means not everyone will get a copy (I’m thinking of creating a product from it soon after this limited release.)
So that’s all for now.
The next time you hear from me… I’ll have a download link for you so you can start transforming your business and your life - when you fully understand what “The Attention Age” means to your future.
To Higher Profits,
Rich Schefren
P.S. Keep an eye on your email for your download link. And if you haven’t reserved your copy of The Doctrine, you can do so here:

My last blog post was about the myth of retirement, and how it robs most people of the happiness they hope for. It really struck a nerve with many of my readers.
If you’ve been patiently waiting for my solution… your wait is over, the cavalry is charging ahead. And if your current situation seems hopeless, you’re in luck, because when we’re done you’ll have an answer that will definitely work for you.
How can I be so sure? Because what I am about to layout for you are the very same strategies guiding me and many of my famous clients.
But before we blitz down the trail together I need to point out a few of the more obvious signs along the way. You see, right now most people have a false sense of certainty about what they believe will be their likely future. Truth be told, most entrepreneurs’ envisioned future isn’t much different from an infant’s security blanket – they both don’t serve any real purpose other than providing a false sense of safety.
I know what I just wrote sounds cold, but think about it. Could you have predicted you current situation (good or bad) 5 years ago? How about 10 years ago? For anyone with even an ounce of ambition cycling through their veins the answer has to be “no.”
From what I gather, the single biggest reason for the gap between what we want and where we end up is perspective. Most people seem to be sleepwalking through life, with little awareness of where they are really heading and even less recognition for what’s going on around them.
So, before you can predict anything, you need to have a clue about the overall context - meaning the environment you currently operate in. You see, one of the biggest factors influencing your future will be how you interact with everything that’s going on around you. Makes sense, doesn’t it?
Of course it does. So, let me ask you a question…
“Have you noticed how everything around us is changing so fast these days?”
Think about it. Just compare where the world is today to where it was just a few years ago.
Today, the best selling rap artist is white (Eminem), the most successful golfer is black (Tiger Woods), the tallest basketball player in the NBA is Chinese (Yao Ming), the French have been accusing Americans of being condescending and not caring about the views of foreigners, we now pay for water (bottled water is $9 a gallon) while music is free (sort of), and you need 9 different phone numbers to reach any two of your friends. I could go on and on…
Don’t make the mistake that the business world is somehow immune from the snowball of rapid change. I first noticed how uncertain the future is in the business world after reading Tom Peters’ and Robert Waterman’s book In Search Of Excellence. Peters and Waterman celebrated “excellence in companies that broke the mold”… Years later, these same companies were no longer excellent and the only thing that these excellent companies broke was their ability to survive and thrive.
Celebrated business guru Jim Collins author of bestselling books Built To Last, and Good To Great hasn’t been immune from the hyper-speed of business change either. The companies he profiled in Built To Last, did indeed last, although they weren’t exactly built to emulate.
Over half of Jim’s “visionary companies” have slipped dramatically in performance and reputation since the book’s release. These companies’ visions could now be better categorized as blurry rather than guiding. And chances are good that if he were to rewrite the book today companies like Ford, Sony, Boeing, Nordstrom, Merck, Motorola, and Disney wouldn’t even make his runner’s up list.
Just in case you mistakenly believe I am taking a shot at either Collins or Peters, I’m not. I wouldn’t even dare. These two men rank among my top five business heroes. But the point is obvious nonetheless. With everything changing so fast these days our futures are lot less predictable then ever before.
That’s why it’s no longer safe to assume that your tomorrow will be like today or yesterday, no matter how excellent you’ve been or how long you’ve been around. Moreover, the further you go out into the future the more your vision resembles a fairy tale.
Now before you go any further please read the prior paragraph again. Because when you face up to the hard cold reality that you really cannot be too certain about your future, you realize sacrificing everything for it (the whole retirement idea) doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.
Of course you and I both realize the future is going to come. And we all believe certain actions taken today will improve our future.
So how do we balance the two?
If we live completely for today we might find our future somewhat unforgiving and very unpleasant, yet if we live completely for the future we might find we sacrificed our best years for nothing more than a mirage. Either way you end up with a heap of regrets.
Let me remind you that what got us on this conversation in the first place was the scary fact that my masseuse “GP” had not taken a day off in over 180 days. But I never told you why…
When GP first told me about her grueling schedule I asked her when she made time for fun. Initially she tried to feed me some line about making time “here and there”. I would have challenged her on her answer but I could tell by her tone she honestly believed what she was telling me.
My experience coaching so many successful marketing gurus taught me not to challenge closely held beliefs head on. If you do all you meet up with is a lot of resistance, because one of the reasons these people are successful is they’re not easily swayed from their own positive self-affirming beliefs.
I used to come across this all the time when I was coaching. GP like many of my clients had already convinced herself that she actually did have fun. If I challenged her belief she would have gotten defensive and more committed to the belief.
Instead, I asked for the details (which by the way is always the best way to covertly challenge any belief). “Well, tell me, what do you like to do for fun?” I asked. “Lots of things” she replied. “Tell me some of them” I challenged. She thought for a minute or two, and then told me she “used” to have fun by going rollerblading, playing with her dogs, or going to the beach.
Sure, she had things that she “used to do” for fun – but when I pressed further by asking her to tell me some of the things she’s done recently for fun, within the past 4 months, she didn’t have any answers.
GP then admitted to me (and more importantly to herself) she really didn’t make time for fun. It’s sad yet I see it all the time. I got the feeling that GP was hiding. Life was passing her by so fast and she just kept her head down clinging to the certainty of work over the uncertainty of her achieving happiness.
And while this won’t be popular to write I’ll write it anyway because the more I live the more I am convinced of its truth.
And here it is…
Most People Consistently Choose Unhappiness Over Uncertainty.
I know you want to disagree with that statement, don’t you? I know I did. Because if you can prove it’s not true then you’ll never have to inspect your life under that standard.
Let it stew for a few minutes… "Most People Consistently Choose Unhappiness Over Uncertainty".
If you’re up for being real honest with yourself - couldn’t you identify areas of your life where you are currently making that choice. If you ever answered a dream with “Sure, I’d love to, BUT WHAT IF…” What follows next is usually an uncertainty that is dominating your life decisions.
But I don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves here. I’ve got a lot more to share with you about this, but let me tell you what I asked GP to do, because I want you to do the same. I asked GP to put together a list of 20 things she really enjoys before my appointment the next week.
What about you? Can you do it?
Sadly, many of you will not be able to come up with 20 fun things you enjoy. But if you can come up with even three it’s a start. No matter how many you come up with I want to invite you to post your answers here.
This way we can learn from each other’s lists. My hope is if there are enough people posting we can help the GPs of this world put together a great list for themselves. And like I said, it doesn’t matter how many you have now, just go ahead and share them here.
In my next post I’ll tell you what’s on my list, and how to use this list to dramatically boost your productivity and be a lot more successful a lot sooner.
But first, you’ve got to make the list… So have at it by commenting here.
Last week I got a massage.
It was different than any massage I ever received (which is why I am telling you about it). It reminded me of a key distinction between my most successful clients and those that seem to continually struggle.
The masseuse (I’ll call her GP for short) discovered a big knot in my shoulder and asked me if I work in front of a computer. I said I did and I’d been spending a lot more time typing than I usually do.
(The reason for my recent marathon typing sessions is the new report I’m working on. I’m sure it will open people’s eyes just like the Internet Business Manifesto did last year. More on that later…)
The conversation with GP drifted to how many hours a week I work, what I do, and what I do on the weekends.
When she heard how much time I took out of my schedule for fun and time with my family, she was surprised at how I’m able to squeeze in everything.
Her response was not unusual at all. In fact, whenever I explain my schedule I’m always greeted with envy first, followed quickly by confusion, then wonder at how I’m able to live my life so well.
Being polite, I asked GP about her schedule. Her answer absolutely horrified me…
GP had been working seven days a week for the past 6 months with no days off and no vacations. At first I thought I had misheard her, but I hadn’t. Six massages a day, day in and day out, for over 180 days straight.
She making six figures – but she’s living her "life" based on a faulty assumption I see entrepreneurs making far too often.
Look, even though I’m only 36 years old, I’ve already retired twice. Yet, today I am typing this note to you from my office surrounded by 12 exceptional employees. What happened?… Why the hell am I still working?
The reason I work today is: the whole concept of ‘Retirement’ is fundamentally flawed.
The idea that you should sacrifice the best years of your life hoping to discover magical happiness in your later years doesn’t prove out at all. It’s just an old-fashioned theory you’ve been sold – and all you have to do is look around to prove to yourself how unrealistic it is.
In case you didn’t know… only a very small percentage of seniors can actually retire. Nowadays most are forced to work to supplement their income. And the trend is only getting worse. With the recent collapses of private pensions and the continual decrease in purchasing power of social security, many experts have come to the same conclusion…
“I don’t think were going to see another generation that’s going to fully retire. There’s going to be a lot of people that are going to continue to work for the rest of their lives.” Doug Lockwood, Retirement Specialist, Harbor Lights Financial Group.
But what’s even worse is this sort of “hoping it will be better later” dramatically decreases the likelihood you’ll ever achieve the success you desire.
Soon I’ll tell you why this is. But for now you need to think about the answers to these two questions as you go through your day:
What if you could never retire?
What if the way you choose to work today would set the pattern you must continue until the day you die? What would you be doing differently?
Let me know your answers to these two vital questions by posting your comments here:
And if you think you know why this reduces your chances of overall success, tell me why.
Then be on the look out for another message from me… because I’m going to tell you how to dramatically increase your chances of success AND at the same time enjoy your life a whole lot more than you do now.
Interested?… Stay Tuned….

Have you ever met an idiot that is more successful than you are?
We all have, right?
Frequently, when I am coaching, a client will say something along the lines of "I’m just as smart as (blank "guru"), so why am I working so much harder yet making so much less than them?
When they ask, I’m never quite sure… Do they really want the truth, or are they simply venting their frustrations? To play it safe, I usually say nothing and wait to hear what comes out next. After a silent pause, the client speaks…
The next few words out of their mouth tell me everything I need to know. If they are serious they’ll press me and ask again. If not they’ll simply move on to the next topic.
You see, I need to know if they are serious, because if they’re not… they aren’t ready to hear the cold, hard truth.
What about you? Do you want to know why people with half your smarts are making ten times more than you? If so, keep reading…
Today, the internet provides an overwhelming amount of information. Never before have so many people been so well informed… And yet, so utterly confused.
Lots of entrepreneurs go around thinking that "Access to information is what separates the winners from the losers" and, "The smartest person in the room should be the most successful". Not true. If it were, then whoever bought the most products, or read the most books would be richest, and we both know how outrageous that is.
That’s not to say that getting the right information isn’t important, but it’s only a tool.
When it comes to being successful in business, there are a few easily overlooked elements that are absolutely vital. They’re truly the deciding factors.
So, what are the crucial "winning" elements at the core of all successful entrepreneurs (even the "idiots")?
1.) Action Orientation. Taking action is the real difference between the super-successful and the wannabes. Wannabes simply absorb information and at their very best, react to it. And with such an overwhelming supply of information, most of them are simply numbed by it.
Contrast that with the successful entrepreneurs out there. When they get good information… they act on it - as soon as they possibly can. The main reason why so many don’t take action is because they are paralyzed by the prospect of failure. Add to that, their mistaken belief that the next information nugget they come across will be the difference between success and failure, and it becomes obvious why their "waiting" has them stuck.
If they press on, they only become more confused by conflicting facts. All the while, becoming increasingly frustrated that they still haven’t found the magic they’ve been seeking.
If you’ve ever been there, here’s my advice - Stay focused! Take a deep breath, and ask yourself, -What do I have to get done today?- Not tomorrow, or next week, or even next month. Today! And not what do I have to learn, but what do I have to DO to further my success?!?! It’s easy to lose your focus on today when you are thinking about tomorrow. And it’s just as tempting to believe that the next pearl of wisdom you come across is going to make all the difference. But it won’t. You’ll never reach the level of success you crave without taking specific DAILY steps that take you there.
It’s pretty straightforward. To build a successful business you have to train your brain to crystallize a future vision, break it into small details, and organize them into daily tasks. After that, all you need is the courage to commit to the completion of these daily tasks - despite all the obstacles that get in your way.
Sounds easy enough, right? So what will sabotage your success? Mainly fear! Fear is your enemy. The little voice whispering - what if it doesn’t work? What if I’m wrong? Look, some self-doubt is natural - but when it prevents you from achieving the success you deserve it’s a problem. Which leads to our next point:
2.) Rise Above Your Fears & Doubts. You have to get far enough above your doubts to keep working or you’re doomed. What works for me is to forget it all. And the easiest way to do that, is to get lost in a project. It works for me and it’ll work for you. Just throw yourself so deep into your work that your fears stay far enough away until you’ve finished all that’s needed to be done. Every successful business owner learns how to do this, sooner or later. What makes it easier is knowing…
Experience will always be your best teacher
When it comes to business you are going to make mistakes. We all do. Even the Intels, Microsofts, and Googles of the world mis-step from time to time. Building a successful company is complex, and there are always factors that lie beyond your control.
The trick is to learn from your mistakes. Just do your best to limit your risk, focus every day, keep trying, learn what works, and don’t torture yourself when you take a wrong turn. Just notice it, learn from it, and change your approach.
And since we are talking about mistakes… Do you know what’s at the root of most mistakes that you’ll make? I see it over and over again, playing out in so many online businesses. Yet, most people would never guess what it is, in a million years. Even though practically everyone who struggles in business is guilty of it.
For some strange reason, everyone wants to make things more complicated than they need to be. It’s as if everyone is fascinated by the overly complex, so instead of keeping things simple, they burden themselves with too much to do and too little time to do any of it right. Which leads to the next crucial element…
3.) Keep Things As Simple As You Can To Avoid The "Stupidity Tax". This a big one. It’s so easily avoidable but for some reason it’s one almost everyone online seems to walk right into.
Here‘s an example how this flawed approach plays out…
Instead of picking one way to drive traffic to your website, mastering it, and then moving on - most people do the opposite. They want to learn about launches, pay-per-click, search engine optimization, affiliate marketing, and every other method under the sun, all at the same time without developing any level of mastery in any of the tactics whatsoever.
Yet, the most successful online businesses I know do the opposite. Agora for example focused primarily on pay-per-click for their first 50 million in online sales. My company focused on jv/affiliate launches and in 9 months we’ve done over 7 million in sales.
When you pursue multiple directions in your business all at the same time you end up making very little progress. And it doesn’t matter if you are smarter and working harder than other successful people because you are spread way too thin.
On the internet, making this mistake can really kill your business, here’s why: In the online marketing world your results are directly related to how your skills stack up against your competitors. In Google adwords if your competition is better they’ll pay less for traffic and convert more of it than you will. In search engine optimization they’ll rank higher than you. In the affiliate world whoever converts better, sells more, and therefore can pay affiliates more, which locks other competitors out of the market.
It doesn’t work this way offline. You don’t pay more if your ad or commercial sucks. You might not get the number of responses but you’re not locked out, and you’re not forced into an inferior position, saddled with paying the "stupidity tax."
The Solution -> Isolate the fewest activities you can be successful with. Then knock them off one at a time. Don’t make the mistake of trying to do too much and marginalizing your results.
Remember: Confucius said "Man who chases two rabbits catches neither".
If you follow my advice you’ll get to take back quite a bit of time you’re currently wasting. You’ll be free from wasting time trying to learn too much about too many tactics at once. Plus you’ll get back the time youvre wasting trying to execute with a superficial level of knowledge. What you do with your newfound free time leads us to our fourth and final success-component, which is…
4.) Know Where The Money Is. It takes time to know your market, but it’s time you must invest if you’re serious about your business’s success.
The first step is quite simply to open your eyes and look at what’s going on around you. You need to keep your finger on the pulse of your market to know what’s "hot" in it. But that’s only 1/2 the equation. The second step is to do your best to understand WHY it’s hot. Until you understand your market on a deeper level you’ll keep scratching your head wondering why you are making less than your "dumb" counterparts.
The good news is that once you get it - When you really understand the psychology of your market; your results will improve immediately in all the marketing you do. From emails to pay-per-click your results will multiply because you’ll know your prospects better than any of your competitors.
So there you have it. If you’ve ever wondered why you make less than others even if you are smarter than they are, now you know. And it’s up to you. Are you going to make up your mind to keep plodding along somewhat frustrated with your progress or are you going to embrace the 4 points I shared with you here and decide once and for all that you are going to do what it takes to be successful.
Only time will tell…
To Higher Profits,
Rich Schefren
P.S. Please let me know how you’ll use these ideas in your business. You can do this by posting your thoughts right here.
Hey Guys,
We have an offer that will be coming down soon.
The program is called the “Business Growth System”.
I’ve invested the last two years of my life developing and refining the most results-driven coaching program for entrepreneurs, marketers and small business owners as humanly possible.
I’ve poured my heart and soul into this thing.
Some people have compared it to an MBA for business builders. It’s an engrossing experience that drenches you with the mindset necessary for building a company that can produce massive income streams, even allowing you to work less as you make more.
One of the most important aspects is that it gives you a complete foundation for running a successful company. After you’re finished with my program, you’ll be capable of running a million dollar operation without breaking a sweat.
My goal is to transform you into a business building master. Into an entrepreneur who knows how to leverage his or her time and energy in the most efficient way possible. Someone who knows how to quickly build scale into to an operation to allow for maximum profits in the shortest possible time. I want you to get projects off the ground and to completion in the blink of an eye. I want you to find and then focus the efforts of an all-star team to effectively execute your grand (and profitable) vision.
Oh, did I forget to mention cash flow?
In my program, I give you the blunt truth about what it takes to quickly ramp up cash so that you have the resources you need to quickly take your business to the next level. I take cash flow VERY seriously and you’ll learn the exact methods I’ve used (in several businesses) to get the money flowing into the company at break-neck speed.
All of this is delivered to you inside a cutting-edge online coaching system. It’s unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. Not only do you get an entrepreneurial education second to none, but you get access to a library of resources that you will not find anywhere else.
In fact, some of the stuff that’s included as a bonus is sold elsewhere for several thousand bucks. And since I have built relationships with the publishers of these products, they’ve agreed to allow me to provide them to you as part of my program. Due to contractual agreements, I cannot tell you who they are, but let’s just say they are premier experts in their respective fields.
But that’s just a small part of what you’ll get as a member of my Business Growth System. Here’s what else you’ll get:
12 In-Depth Profit Modules - In these, I lay out step-by-step exactly what you must do to build an extremely profitable company. I’ve got to warn you. These modules are sometimes overwhelming for some people. I pour a significant amount of time and detail into each one. But by saturating you with my insights and experience I’m hoping to over communicate the points I feel are necessary for you to build a wildly successful company. Each month you’ll receive a new module to help you grow your business in a methodical and profitable manner.
12 Comprehensive Action Guides - This is where you get to take what you’ve learned in the module and apply it. These guide books will assist you in implementing everything you learn directly into your life and into your business. This is where the rubber meets the road.
Weekly Q&A Calls Directly With Me - These are live calls where I answer your specific questions. This is one of the most popular aspects of my program and it’s also one of the main reasons I have to limit the number of people that join my program. Imagine - you have a direct line to me each and every week where I’ll answer your specific question. Clients have paid me in excess of $2,000 an hour for my advice and as part of your membership, you can ask me any question you’d like without paying even one additional red cent.
As if that wasn’t enough to take you to the next level, you also get access to the brainstorming and mastermind forum known as the Revenue Roundtable. You’ll get to meet and network with like-minded individuals to mastermind, share resources, and compare results. Can anyone say “Joint Venture?”
Last but not least… as a member of my Business Growth System coaching program you get 2 Private, 2-Day Workshops. This is yet another chance to network with fellow coaching members, learn the latest from me, and bring your business building skill set to an entirely new level.
And that just about covers it.
If you have any questions, please feel free to post them here.
Hey Guys,
There have been 1536 comments on our blog over the last few weeks.
Most of those comments have been overwhelmingly positive, and the number one thing that keeps coming up is WHY am I giving away so much incredible free content.
Here’s the 100% true no-weasel-word answer…
Because I am just about to launch my new Business Growth Systems coaching program.
Actually, that’s only part of the reason. The OTHER part of the reason is that this is going to be a limited program. The program is NOT for everyone.
And that’s the real reason I’ve been putting out non-stop content… because I want to pre-qualify people before we get to the launch.
I figure, the more education I do upfront, the fewer people we will have to turn away on launch day.
In other words, I want the RIGHT kind of people.
I’m not looking for people who are lazy, or whiny, or think there is some kind of miraculous piece of software that will make them rich.
I run a very exclusive coaching club, and the members of my program take their businesses very seriously. And I’ve got to keep it that way.
By making sure the right kind of people get into my program, it helps to elevate the level of discussion to a quality that is not attainable anywhere else. Not only that, but it increases the quality and number of joint venture opportunities for clients to participate in.
I know this may UPSET some people… but that’s just the way it is. I think you have seen in my videos that I am a straight shooter, and I am not about to change.
We are just about one week out from launch right now… and I am going to continue to pump out more content - I figure that’s the best way to make sure we only get the right kind of people get into the program.
So I’ve asked my team to put together a collection of my documents and videos that I’ve released over the past few weeks… it’s called the “Profit Vault”… and this really is a massive collection of business-building content. Even though these documents will cost you nothing, be aware that they’ve created more Internet millionaires than most paid and high priced products could ever lay claim to.
You can access it here:
What I’d like you to do is visit the Vault - you will find an EXTREMELY potent collection of my recent work. I’d like you to go through it all. I want you to dive in and absorb the concepts.
And if you ARE the type of person who identifies with my message, what I’m all about, and if my videos resonate with you, well then you are going to want to mark your calendar for March 15th at 3PM EASTERN.
To Higher Profits,
Rich Schefren
P.S. When I see everything all together on one page, well… even I was stunned by all the material in the “Profit Vault”:
Visit the Profit Vault
P.S.S. After you explore my vault, please let me know how you’ll be implementing the ideas in your business. You can do this by posting your thoughts right here.
Hey Guys,
It looks like my latest Momentum Video was a huge hit… as I type this we have 204+ comments on our blog, and pretty much all of them are rave reviews. And that doesn’t count all the emails we’ve received …my inbox is stuffed!
If you haven’t seen the video yet, go watch it now:
http://www.strategicprofits.com/momentumvideo/
At this point I’ve had a lot of people asking “what’s next?”… and that’s what this email is all about.
I have pretty much caught my breath now after putting that last video together. Right now I am strongly considering doing ONE MORE video for you…
You see, I am about to head into another massive coaching frenzy - we are going to be opening up our Business Growth System very, very soon - and it will be a long time before I can focus on creating more videos like this.
We’ve been getting more and more inquiries from people who want to get into my coaching system…wondering when it’s going to be available. You may recall that last summer when I opened up my program it was only available for two days or so before it was completely sold out.
That was last July, and many people have patiently be waiting ever since.
(That doesn’t include a few weeks ago, when I opened up 100 “beta” spots during my live video feed from Florida… those spots sold out in six minutes.)
In any case, like I said above, the wait is almost over. The system has been stress-tested, and it’s ready to go. The final details are being put in place. We are now literally days away.
In the meantime, I am going to see if I can get that last video put together - there is one more piece that I *need* to share with you… it’s just a matter of getting all the pieces together.
Look for an email in the next day or two about that final video…
To Higher Profits,
Rich Schefren
P.S. If you haven’t seen the Momentum Video, go watch it now here:
Hey Guys,
Listen up, this post could actually change your life…
OK, this is the deal… my team and I have just finished going over nearly a thousand (!) blog posts and emails that have poured in over the last few days - all from people telling me what’s holding them back in their business.
It’s truly been overwhelming… this obviously struck a chord and the response has been staggering.
And that response has really pushed me to deeply reflect and re-visit my vast coaching experience from the last two years.
Don’t get me wrong… I am always reviewing and refining my coaching material. But those 1000+ comments and emails have been like an earthquake tearing through my business. This type of stuff doesn’t happen every day… or every year.
So this is what I’ve done - I went back to work and I’ve created an extremely powerful new video that explains why many of you been having trouble getting the momentum you need in your business.
Now, I partially addressed this same issue a while ago, but it’s very clear that I need to cover and expand on this material again.
That fact of the matter is (and you probably won’t like hearing this but) the truth behind building a successful Internet business is rarely told…
Unless you’re an experienced business builder (or you’ve simply figured it out through years of trial and error), you’ve never seen the full picture. I’m almost positive no one has ever spelled out the actual steps that are necessary to build a serious operation that generates massive cash flows and runs without you.
Let me ask you a question…
If someone was trying to sell you on an opportunity (a “system” that can make you money) would they want to tell you the WHOLE story?
Of course not!
And you know why? Because the WHOLE story is that building a business that can generate millions of dollars is NOT an easy thing to do! It takes time, effort and lots of sweat. And contrary to popular opinion, you can’t do it all in your underwear.
Of course, that’s not what the “opportunity sellers” want to tell you. They want to make it sound about as simple and easy as using your remote control to turn on American Idol.
If they tell you that their “opportunity” requires work, then they lose sales. They make less money.
That’s why you’ve never hear the full story from the opportunity sellers, because it’s doesn’t sell. Their sales pitch works best on the lazy and the stupid…
Now you might have gotten sucked into one or two of those “opportunity pitches”, but I know you are NOT either lazy or stupid. How do I know? I only have to take a look at my inbox on any given day. I see REAL questions from REAL people who are searching desperately for the answers to their burning questions about how to make a serious income online.
So I’ve put together a video series that spells it all out.
I think this video is appropriate for anyone who’s looking for a path that will take them to outrageous business success. But I’ve got to warn you, it’s not for those who are looking for a quick fix. It’s not for the weak.
It’s powerful (and profitable) stuff.
I’m calling it “The Momentum Movie Series” and you can see it here:
http://www.strategicprofits.com/profitvault
After you watch it, leave a comment on the blog. This is some serious stuff, and I’d like to hear your thoughts… so watch the videos and let me know what you think.
To Higher Profits,
Rich Schefren
P.S. After you watch the video, please let me know how you’ll be implementing these ideas in your business. You can do this by posting your thoughts right here.
Hey Guys,
I have a quick favor to ask of you.
But before we get into that I just want to point out that, in the last 24 hours alone, roughly 6,231 people have watched my latest video, “Startup To Freedom”. I seems as though people are starting to send the video to their friends and family.
So not only could you learn a lot from the video, but you could also look at it as a lesson in viral marketing! Cool.
Now since my inbox has been flooded with questions and comments about momentum, I want to try and answer them the best they can. But before I do that, I want you to submit a question to my blog so that I can have a clear picture of the common obstacles that are preventing people from gaining momentum.
Here is the question I’d like you to answer:
What is the biggest obstacle that is preventing you from gaining the momentum you need to bring your business to the next level?
Submit your answer on this post…
And yes this means you!
It will only take 30 seconds, and it will help you identify the constraint that is preventing you from growing your business.
Then, later on this week, I’ll be releasing something that will address the common obstacles you’re facing. I already have some ideas, based on the feedback so far, but I’m very interested in hearing from you.
I’m looking forward to your feedback.
To Higher Profits,
Rich Schefren
Hey Guys,
Lots of you have been waiting patiently for this new presentation, and I sincerely appreciate that.
But before I share the video with you, I just want to take a minute to thank you all for your overwhelming support.
The emails that have flooded my inbox over the last week have been heartwarming.
They really mean a lot to me… especially since we had some challenges last week.
In any case, my long awaited presentation “Startup To Freedom” is now available online. You can get access to it here:
http://www.strategicprofits.com/startuptofreedom
This presentation reflects my latest, cutting edge work, and it’s my clearest articulation of the process I use to build million dollar companies in a short period of time.
I know it may be difficult for you to believe that you could build a million (or multi-million dollar) company, but know this… it is very possible if you work hard AND if you have a good strategy.
Of course, it’s not easy.
In fact, it is one of the most difficult things you can do. But it is possible with the right knowledge and the right mindset.
So with that said, I invite you to head over to watch my latest video. In it, I outline the process I go through when building companies. I’ve tested and used this process myself and with clients, and I know it works, and works well.
Of course, it’s not a magic pill or silver bullet for the people who are simply wishing and dreaming that money will suddenly “manifest” into their lives.
To put it bluntly, these are not the people who I want to work with. I’m looking for people who are dedicated to building a company that can give them freedom and prosperity beyond their wildest dreams. But in order to do so, work is involved.
There is no magic formula. But there are methods, strategies and tactics that have proven to work in the past.
By understanding these strategies, you can increase your chance of success dramatically. And that’s why my latest video is all about.
Check it out here:

Hey Guys,
Rich Schefren here. This email is long… but it’s important. And it has some valuable lessons…
Let me tell you… pulling off that live video stream from our seminar last weekend was pretty thrilling. It was also historic and groundbreaking.
In fact, the company that we used for the video feed is putting together a big press release - I think it was the largest live video feed they have EVER done in ANY market.
HOWEVER, last weekend wasn’t all beauty and grace.
In fact, I have a rather large confession to make.
Since there is no real way to sugar coat it, here it is: in one very big way, I really dropped the ball. This is the deal…
My plan for the live video stream was to deliver a knock-out brand-new presentation that has never been seen before. It was going to be about taking a company from start up and growing it into a business that truly gave you freedom.
The working title was “From Startup To Freedom”.
I have spent literally weeks with this material, and I have all the mindmaps to prove it.
But in the days leading up to my seminar last weekend my life was consumed by moving my entire company to a new office complex, and I was also busy preparing for the twelve other presentations that I was going to give at the seminar for all
my coaching clients.
The end result was that I went into the weekend seminar with nothing but catnaps in the 80 hours before the event started.
Not a good way to start a seminar, and I am not proud of it.
In fact, the only way that I was able to pull the event off was with prodigious amounts of Red Bull… and a really crack team that was supporting me every step of the way.
But those things can only carry you so far. And at 1:00pm on Saturday I was scheduled to appear in front of the biggest crowd of my life… a live video stream with 10,000 people watching.
So around 11:30am, while I was up on stage giving a different presentation, the key insiders on my team huddled out in the hallway talking about revising my strategy for the live video feed.
And there conclusion was unanimous… they didn’t want me getting up in front of the huge streaming video audience and giving a brand-new presentation in my current sleep deprived state.
In fact, it was even worse… my team had just finished creating the Powerpoint presentation for “Startup To Freedom” that very morning while I was on stage.
Don’t get me wrong - I had been working on the presentation for weeks… but the Powerpoint is always the last piece to get finished… and in this case it was getting finished on Saturday morning while I was up on stage giving my other talks.
That’s the way it is, and the way business often gets done. It ain’t always pretty.
In any case, I would have been presenting my new talk from a brand-new Powerpoint that I had never even seen in a finished form.
So when I got off the stage around noon for our lunch break, my team pulled me aside to give me their recommendation… which was to NOT deliver my “Startup To Freedom” talk. Instead, they suggested a talk that was based on some of my core
teaching… a talk that I had given before.
This wasn’t an easy decision.
But I will tell you this… having a team worrying about this type of stuff for you really is an amazing thing. Building this type of organization is the kind of stuff I have been teaching all along, and it really is breathtaking when you’ve put it all together.
In any case, I made the painful decision to go with a presentation that I was SURE I could deliver well… rather than a brand-new presentation that would have rough around the edges (especially in my sleep-deprived state).
My biggest concern, of course, was for my current clients who were at the seminar who had already seen this talk before. And I was also worried about the people who had promoted the live video stream for me.
But in the end, it was my call and still think it was the right way to go.
Since the seminar, I’ve read a few blog posts by people complaining that this material wasn’t new. Those people are 100% correct.
I apologize for that. I promised new material, and I didn’t deliver. That’s the cold, honest truth.
However, I’m going to make it up to you…
To make things right I’m going to deliver my keynote presentation online for the world to see.
Keep in mind that this presentation is my latest and greatest insights into how to rapidly take your business to the next level.
I will be sending you details on how to access that presentation in the next day or two, so please stay tuned.
Finally, I just want to say this… when you are working on great things (such as rapidly building a multi-million dollar business), then sometimes things get a little messy.
It’s not easy. Don’t let anyone tell you it will be. Take it from me, because I’ve done it several times.
There will be times when you’re completely drained, completely exhausted, and may even feel defeated.
But as long as you’re focusing on the right things and keeping the momentum moving forward, you will make progress.
And remember - when you’re knocked down, you’ve got to get back up.
In any case, look for my new “Startup To Freedom” video presentation in the next day or two. And get ready for a mind-blowing presentation - it’s going to rock your world…
Warm Regards,
Rich Schefren
P.S. Remember… in business you have to stay nimble. That is the only way to be, or you will get eaten up and spit out by your competition. I have built a team, and that team enabled me to stay nimble last weekend. And I couldn’t be more proud of my team. I just keep trying to live up to them. That’s why it hurt so bad when I stumbled last weekend.
P.P.S. I guess I’m really letting it all hang out with this email. But I have been an open book all along… if I am going to teach, then I need to be honest about what’s going on in my business and my life. Now I am going to go and try to duck all the slings and arrows that will be coming my way after I publish it.
UPDATE: Sorry for the delay, we couldn’t login to Wordpress because of overwhelming traffic.
Hey Guys,
If you made it here, then I you are coming from a link on my live video stream…
I will admit it right here - this is really a bit of a grand experiment. We are operating at the bleeding edge of technology with this stream.
As I type I am at the back of the conference room, and there is all kinds of activity happening around me. My entire team is scrambling to make sure we have everything in place. We go live in about 17 minutes.
So let the big experiment begin… and let the discussion begin. Please let me know what you think about the presentation and the entire experience. I want your feedback - the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Enjoy!
Rich

Hey Guys,
Here’s the final installment of your business makeover toMake 2007 Your Best Year.
Pretty soon you’ll have a bigger smile because there will be epiphanies for you if you’ve done the lists with all the heart and honesty you could muster.
So by now you may have some ideas about how to build a better life in 2007… So we’re going kick it up a notch.
Are you wondering just how to use what you’ve learned from the last 4 lists to make this year extremely profitable for you?.
Well, your next Big Question is the glue that brings all of this together.
If you’ve skipped ahead to find out where my Business Makeover Formula was taking you, please go back to the first post and follow the step by step makeover formula for each post.
You’ve really got to put in the time to get the benefit from this… Just like you don’t get the benefits of working out by only talking about it, you wonvt get the benefits of this synergy if you donvt do all of these lists. So hold off on today’s Big Question for now if you need to go back and do the other lists first.
Because all of those steps will lead you right back here.
Then you will be ready for the Biggest Question for turning your situation around in short order.
Your Biggest Question Is…
How Can I Use This Information to Make 2007 My Best Year?
The Big Questions and steps you’ve taken leading up to this post will help you only when you put them to use.
And only if you’ve been brutally honest with yourself.
I strongly suggest that after you finish this post, go into your office and grab a big stack of index cards.
Yes, index cards.
Next, take each of your accomplishments from 2006 and write each one on a separate index card.
Now take each of your disappointments and write each one on a separate index card.
Then take each bad thing that you’ve discovered is holding you back and write each one on a separate index card.
These Index Cards are Your Pot of Gold
Take your stack of ‘Victory cards’. On each card write down as many ways you can think of to apply what you did right to your activities this year.
Next, grab your stack of ‘Disappointment cards’. On each one write down how you can avoid this disappointment in 2007.
Then take your stack of ‘What Held You Back cards’. Write down how you can eliminate each limitation from your life as soon as possible.
You Now Have the Key to Making 2007 Your Best Year!
The pot of gold is what you discover by going through all the lists and the entire makeover process - to make 2007 your best year ever.
You only get the results by first following the formula.
Are you thinking that this index card thing is stupid?
Well lose that thought because it works! Writing things down is very powerful.
Make these cards easily accessible so you can review them regularly and re-apply them when needed.
From my personal experience, I know for a fact that if you do this exercise just as I’ve shown you, you’ll get an incredible amount of ammunition to move onward and upward with your business situation and your life in general.
Now and then as you re-visit these lists and see how far you’ve come, you’ll be blown away… And when you are, donvt forget to write and tell me.
By using this formula to make your situation better, you are not relegated to reliving your mistakes year after year…
Why not capitalize on the things you’ve done right to bring you easy profits well into the future?
Why not eliminate what hasn’t worked instead of repeating the same mistakes over and over?
Why not question beliefs and actions that bog down your life in ways that inhibit your business and personal growth?
I Want to Hear How My 2007 Makeover Process Helped You!
After you create your index cards and get a boatload of great ideas for blowing out your business in 2007, tell me!
Leave a comment. Actually, you can leave many comments, so I can see what you thought of each lesson and how each one helped you.
I’d really love to hear your success story…
To Higher Profits,
Rich Schefren
Strategic Profits
P.S.- You’ve really learned a lot this week about making your situation better and not getting stuck in a rut of poor results from your business.
Making things better in 2007 is affected by the decisions you’ve made over the last year.
More importantly, the wrong decisions you’ve made that you haven’t corrected. The wrong things that you keep on doing, even though you can see they are not helping you to grow the online business of your dreams…
Plus all of the good decisions you’ve made in the past that you didn’t automatically apply to your business this year.
And the decisions you’ve made based on pre-programmed beliefs and weaknesses that you never even knew were there dragging you down.
P.P.S. Make me proud. Do what you have to do to use this powerful Business Makeover Formula (that I use myself) to take your business to new unimaginable heights…
And then let me know, because you’ll be the kind of person that I want to do business with!
Hey Guys,
I’m back again with your next installment of my Make 2007 Your Best Year Ever Business Makeover Formula.
Remember, you can’t have a makeover if you don’t get in the game. If you’ve not done the ‘Power Lists’ from the first three posts, do not pass GO!
These things build on each other, so go back and do the lists of your successes, disappointments, and the things that are holding you back from greatness. You need all the pieces in place, or it’s like putting in the foundation after you’ve put up the siding.
Are you ready now? Let’s get started with this next Big Question, since it really shows you why I had you do those lists in the first place…
Your Next Big Question…
What Did You Learn from the Last Three Questions?
You may not even have to think about this question.
After you put together your Power Lists of accomplishments, disappointments and things that held you back in 2006, the lessons learned could have already hit you square in the head like a 10 pound brick!
Don’t worry if that didn’t happen right away for you -We’re all different and what hits someone else right away may take a little longer to sink in with you.
I’m here today to make sure you fully learn from everything you’ve discovered about yourself and your business.
Learning From Everything You Did Last Year
So you’ve compiled your Power Lists of what went well last year, what could have gone better and what held you back.
Now it’s time to take a step back and learn something from each and every entry from all three lists.
Taking inventory of last year will not help if you can’t learn from your mistakes and your victories…
Don’t only look at the failures and victories from the day to day activities of your business, either…
You should learn from entries in your Power Lists from your personal life, too. Especially the things you found that are holding you back…
Then apply what you’ve learned to your business and your life right away.
For example, if you have been struggling to write sales copy for your business and are still getting poor results, it’s time to outsource this task.
And if you want to have a pile of money for you and your family - even though your grandmother has always told you that money is the root of all evil… you’ll need to resolve the confusion created by trying to achieve something your subconscious mind thinks deep down is wrong.
Even though you have learned what your mistakes and victories were last year, it may not be completely clear exactly how you should take this information and apply it to your business and your personal life.
Well that’s where the next Big Question I have for you comes in…
After you read my next post, you will be very clear about just how to apply what you’ve learned about yourself so you can indeed Make 2007 Your Best Year Ever!
To Higher Profits,
Rich Schefren
Strategic Profits
Hey Guys,
Today I want to continue with the five questions that are going to Make 2007 Your Best Year Ever.
If you followed my previous posts you created two powerful lists that show you exactly what happened in your business and your life last year- what worked and what didn’t work - your successes and your disappointments.
And you probably learned a great deal about yourself in the process.
Well now you’re going to learn even more about yourself as we get into the next step of my 2007 Business Makeover Formula.
And today’s question may reveal some things you would have never thought of in a million years.
Are you ready?
Your Next Big Question.
How Did You Limit Yourself Last Year and How Can You Stop?
You know how I feel about constraints. And you may not believe it, but there are nasty things hiding deep inside of you that have been holding you back from living the life you want.
And most are not your fault. They were placed in your head by well-meaning people. Some of this stuff you’re just thrown to based on things like where you came from, where you grew up, your family background, etc. And some of this stuff has been told to you by people who were really trying to help you by passing on what they thought was valuable advice to live by.
But what actually happened was that you got hardwired with programming that’s outdated. And yet it still influences your thoughts and day to day activities and beliefs in a negative way.
The part of your thought process that has been affected by this ultimately negative input is your belief system and your core values.
Were Your Grandparents Wrong?
Did you have an elderly grandmother that used to tell you things like “Money is the root of all evil” and “Rich people are all crooks”?
Well money is not the root of all evil, and all rich people are not crooks.
Each year millions of dollars are donated to worthy causes by rich people. Their generosity has brought forth breakthroughs in the fields of science and medicine that have made this world a much better place to live.
And even though the news media makes the public believe all rich people are crooks when a CEO is caught stealing from the company pension fund, that’s really not true.
What they don’t tell you is 99.9% of all successful business people have achieved their success through hard work and dedication, not by theft or cheating.
Exposing Your Pre-Programmed Belief System
Along with discovering and listing last year’s business accomplishments and disappointments, it’s time to take a good look at yourself on a very basic level.
This involves reaching deep into your core values and beliefs to see what’s holding you back.
And you may find that some of the things you thought were the truth are really just clich’s. Misguided ideas presented by narrow-minded thinkers and then passed down from generation to generation.
So be ready to find out that what you thought was bedrock in your belief system may not actually be true. For some of you, this may be really shocking.
If it’s your mission to discover exactly what’s holding you back from achieving your goals and dreams. Then do whatever it takes to stop doing or thinking those things.
Have You Been Operating from a Position of Strength or Weakness?
And along with those programmed beliefs, there’s the behavior of operating from your weaknesses instead of your strengths.
Personally, I know a lot about this one! Last year I did not leverage my strengths as much as I could have. And I was involved in some things that I don’t consider my strengths.
But I realized what was going on and fixed the problems. I hired people that are strong in things that I consider myself weak in. Their strengths complement mine.
This one essential move is already making a huge difference for my business this year.
What about you?
Are your daily activities based on your strengths? Or are you wasting your valuable time struggling to get better at things you know deep down are your weaknesses?
You know what I’m talking about here. Not things that you could get good at - but things that you don’t care if you ever get good at but need to have handled excellently.
Are You Ready to Answer Today’s Big Question?
It’s now time for you to get your treasured notebook of powerful lists that make up my formula for
And create another list - this one from your deep, hard look at the values and belief system that you’ve been carrying around for most of your life.
Then include all of the activities you’ve been doing that are not really your strengths.
It’s important to identify those activities that are definitely your weaknesses. The things you struggle with regularly that don’t produce the results you expect.
You’ll Soon Find Out Why You’ve Been Creating This Notebook of Life-Changing Lists
To be prepared for the next Big Question in my Business Makeover Formula, you must have completed all three lists we have discussed so far.
I kid you not.
It’s the only way this series of Make 2007 Your Best Year Ever questions will help you turn your situation around. It will mean the difference between you having an extremely profitable year, or just getting by again - like you did last year.
To Higher Profits,
Rich Schefren
Strategic Profits
P.S. Following this formula myself has enabled me to put my business on track to have a record year. And it wasn’t from just doing the three lists we’ve covered so far.
The next two Big Questions are essential keys to making this formula work for you. So make sure you move on to the next blog post when you’re ready.
Because I really want to see you make a splash this year.
And not just a hand-in-the-water splash. I’m talking about a take-a-running-start cannonball splash that gets everyone around you soaking wet!
Last night I got lucky. No, it’s not what you think (remember I am happily married) - here’s what happened-
I was in San Francisco yesterday preparing for my upcoming client seminar Feb 10+11.
Anyway, I took the red-eye flight from San Francisco to Atlanta cause I am speaking this weekend at Jim Edwards’ seminar here in Atlanta.
Well, I am not much for sleeping on planes - it’s actually one of the best places for me to get work done because I am strapped in and the only other alternative to sitting and working is going to the bathroom.
Back to how I got lucky.
The person sitting next to me was a successful entrepreneur whose name you’d recognize if you read even half the number of business books I do. So I introduced myself, and to my surprise he actually knew my name and had read the manifesto. (Apparently it’s been passed around in a lot of circles outside of internet marketing which is why we still have over 100 people a day opting in to get a copy!)
We passionately shared our insights about small business, big business and where an entrepreneur fits into the process. We agreed on many things - but there was one especially important point he told me about, that he’d figured out after his second success, which I didn’t realize it until my third success.
That’s what I want to share with you today.
He said he knew he was really an entrepreneur when he started his second business - when his aspirations were to one day be the Senior Vice President in charge of acquisitions. When I pressed him to clarify what he meant - he told me that all the excitement for him comes during the startup phase and that he hates having to create all the structures and processes needed to build and grow the business. So, by his second business he decided he wouldn’t do that all himself and instead he would get the business going and then bring in the right CEO, President, and people to work it — until the business grew so successful that he only served one small role in the company — the one that was once just an idea in his head to head up acquisitions.
I was struck by how similar our experiences were because I had a similar shift when I started Strategic Profits. I knew my current role, in the content creation side and coaching successful entrepreneurs, was what I wanted to do the most and that the day to day operations, marketing, etc., would be handled by my superstar team. And it’s happened…
If you are a real entrepreneur this should sound very appealing to you. You get to do more of what you want as you build and grow. Plus, as my company continues to grow and I see our profits climbing, I also notice that my calendar is getting lighter and lighter. The company that my ideas gave birth to is now grown up enough to take care of itself without me shouldering the bulk of the day to day load - actually it has already started to take care of me.
And this gives me tremendous freedom. Which is the whole reason I am entrepreneur in the first place - to create and be free.

Two weeks ago I was reminded of how important freedom and fun are to me. Yanik Silver, Mike Filsaime, and yours truly went on a special flight called a Zero-G flight. It’s an incredible experience where you get to feel true weightlessness.
After the experience, Mike Filsaime and I were talking about how much fun we had and how important it is to make time for fun. We also promised each other we would make sure to plan a few extra fun experiences for 2007.
Think for a second. When was the last time you really had fun? Not just a giggle, but when you had a big stupid smile stretched across your face and you were laughing and feeling like you did when you were just a kid playing?
If it’s been over a month - then you’ve got to ask yourself: Why am I working so hard? What position do I aspire to have in my company? And what could I put on my ‘to do’ list that would be incredibly fun?
I’ve got more to share with you about what I was doing in San Francisco and the plane ride but I’ve got to run right now. Check back on Monday.
To Higher Profits

Hey Guys,
I hope you’re having a profitable day.
So did you finish your ‘Victory’ list - you know the one that we talked about in my last post? Where you get to relive your glory days from last year so we can carry what worked forward into 2007?
If not, please scroll down to yesterday’s post and complete that exercise before you move on to Your Next Big Question for “Making 2007 Your Best Year Ever”.
When you’re ready to continue, here’s…
Your Next Big Question!
What Were Your Biggest Disappointments Of 2006?
Looking at your disappointments from last year may not be easy for you. Don’t worry - you’re not alone. It’s not easy for many people and so they white it out of their minds. They’d rather pretend it never happened and hope for the best.
But it’s hard to build a booming growing successful business if you live like an ostrich with your head in the sand. It’s with your eyes open looking around that you’ll make this year better than 2006.
Last year happened and you have experience from it, both positive and negative…
Today you’re going to learn the next step (#2 out of the 5) that will enable you to really profit from that experience.
First, you must start with this in mind:
As You Launch Into 2007 (it’s only January!!!) - Identify What You Did Wrong Last Year. No Pain, No Gain
It’s time for you to take out that treasured notebook or pad and begin a new list. This one steers clear of your accomplishments and focuses on what didn’t work in 2006…mistakes, missteps, failures, wrong roads, bad choices. Call it what you will, you know what it is I’m talking about.
And by the way SAVE YOUR LISTS!!!! They are the building blocks for your success. The more you put in to them, the more that comes back at you. Save them all! A treasured book of lists is really an excellent idea. You’ll see why.
Be Totally Honest with Yourself
When you begin to write up your list of disappointments, you may be inclined to just rush through them.
DON’T
The easy route here has no pay off. You know what went wrong and taking a good hard look at what happened is where the juice is. No one else has to see this list but you.
And, by the way, take a hard look not only at last year’s business activities, but your personal life, too. Lots of things go hand in hand.
Last time, we talked about taking an honest look at your situation… This is absolutely essential when building your list of disappointments and failures from last year.
You should not just be mildly honest with yourself - Mild Honesty is like lukewarm water.
Instead, go at your disappointments with gusto. If you’re ruthless in tearing your business and life apart, you’ll get a chance to find and face the core problems. You need more than a surface look. If things don’t jump out at you, look again and look harder. This really is a treasure hunt.
The harder you are on yourself at this point, the more ammunition you will have to make the radical changes that are crucial to making your life and your business better.
While you are working on your brutally honest list of disappointments and failures, it might help you to take a look at what I came up with when I did the same exercise you are doing.
What I Must Change In My Life and My Business to Make 2007 the Best Year Ever!
All of us have something we can improve upon from the last year, and that includes me.
Yeah, there were some things that I think could have gone better in 2006…
A big concern was all of the time I personally put into my coaching programs. This really turned out to be a problem for me.
I found it difficult to manage my time when working with over 750 coaching clients, working on my business expansion, entering into new partnerships and speaking all around the world.
All of this while spending as much time as possible with my two daughters Ava and Elle, and my wife Debi.
And I really don’t know how I did it… I sacrificed a lot of hobbies I enjoy - I slept less and read less. And I spent less time with friends. All in all, not too good.
But the pay-off was huge.
I am honored to have been able to help so many clients achieve and exceed their business goals in 2006.
And Strategic Profits is now set up to produce and deliver what I believe will be unrivaled in the business growth field of today and tomorrow.
So now that I have gotten Strategic Profits where it needs to be, I’m readjusting my schedule. This is bringing my life more into balance so I can dedicate more time to having fun.
Now I’m Not Claiming to be Perfect…
The facts are I certainly made some other missteps along the way last year. In hindsight, I did not do everything right.
Most people would have been happy with the numbers we did with our launch of Internet Wealth Alliance with Agora (a program we did together.)
But I thought the results were disappointing, considering the over the top track records of Agora and Strategic Profits.
And as I said before about my family life, I missed out on more than I care to admit. I wanted to spend more time with my wife and kids than I did.
I can’t undo what happened, but as you can imagine, these points are all very important to me.
How Important is All of This to You?
Taking a good look at your 2006 and building a list of all your disappointments and failures will be one of the most important exercises you do all year!
I’m serious here!
Take the time to do it right. Don’t get sidetracked - this is too important. If you face it now, you’ll be amazed at what you will find out about yourself and your business practices last year just from this one list .
Plus you will need this list, and your list of last year’s accomplishments, to be able to complete my business makeover formula so you can make 2007 your best year yet.
Your Next Big Question?
This is something that will make or break your business success and growth this year.
In fact, it is so important that without it, you are putting yourself in the position of reliving your mistakes over and over again, just like Bill Murray did in Groundhog Day.
And you’ll get to benefit from this next big question soon.
So make sure you check in with me tomorrow and make room in your notebook for another important list.
Soon you will see how these lists work together to help you transform your business and your life into that of your dreams.
To Higher Profits,
Rich Schefren
Strategic Profits
P.S. - I’m really looking forward to being able to help even more people in a different way coming up soon.
Since people are always asking me “So Rich, what exactly do you do every day?”… I’m going to let a few lucky people look ‘Over My Shoulder’ this year.
They will get to hear first-hand what I do each and every day and how I’ve used my actions to build my business into what it is today.
Hey Guys,
Rich Schefren here with a bold promise…
If you’ll just answer one question a day for the next five days…
you’ll experience bigger success this year than you currently believe possible.
I’ve been using this secret strategy for the past 4 years and the results simply speak for themselves.
I invented it after watching a movie.
Did you ever see the movie-
Groundhog Day?
Groundhog Day is a comedy starring Bill Murray, who plays Phil Collins a weatherman short on friends, long on ego and sarcasm. In a made for movie time warp, Phil Collins gets stuck having to relive the same day over and over again.
After a rocky start, Phil attempts to come to terms with this new reality by making each new day better than the day before.
His goal is to turn his day into a PERFECT day. And because each day is the same as the day before, he’s got an edge…
Each morning Phil reviews the past day to determine what worked and what didn’t.
Only then does he set out to repeat the right actions and change or eliminate the wrong actions.
What Does Phil Collins Know That You Don’t?
It should come as no great shock that your current level of success (or failure) is primarily caused by the actions you did or didn’t take up to this point.
It sounds like common sense, but it’s not so common.
So if you’re setting a new goal or dusting-off an old one wouldn’t it make sense to take a look at what worked and what didn’t?
Do you think most people do?
You would think so. I know I certainly would.
But we’d both be wrong!
Somehow, most people forget to review their past when making plans for the future.
They almost never take into account what’s worked and what hasn’t.
It’s crazy, it’s like we all experience an annual case of amnesia.
Each new year is approached as if we didn’t already have the experience of what worked for us and what didn’t.
But you can make a perfect day or year - just like in Groundhog Day.
How? You need to first look at what worked and what didn’t - starting with 2006. This way you can change what hasn’t worked and take the good stuff with you into 2007.
So How Can We Mine the Gold from Last Year?
The best way to get the information we need about what happened in 2006 is to answer a few simple questions.
Today we’ll go over question #1 - In my next posts we’ll go over the next 4 questions. We need them all to get where we want to go.
Before we continue let me first say that I am using the word “we” for a good reason. I have gone through the same steps that I’m suggesting for you.
In a moment I will share with you the results I got when I looked back on the last 12 months in my business.
First, though- let’s look at what worked well in 2006.
Your First Big Question
What Were Your Greatest Accomplishments In 2006?
Here’s where you get to relive the glory days of the past year. Think about what you did right, what you’re most proud of and what really worked for you in 2006.
Now’s not the time for modesty. Think big when you reflect back on your brightest accomplishments from last year.
If it worked for you before, you’d be nuts not to put it to use again.
To give you an idea what I’m talking about, here are a few brief examples from my own list:
WHAT WORKED FOR ME:
Accomplishment #1
Creating and Publishing The Manifesto And My Coaching Program
Last summer I released the Internet Business Manifesto, The Missing Chapter and The Final Chapter. (If you haven’t read them yet - you can get them right here: Get The Manifesto.)
These lead to me to open my coaching program, which took in $3.5 million in only 50 hours and 14 minutes. It set a new record for an Internet product launch, which surpassed the record held by my client Mike Filsaime with his Butterfly Marketing launch.
Niether Mike’s record nor mine lasted long though, because another client Brad Fallon and his partner Andy Jenkins then launched Stomper Net, which grossed over $10 million.
Takeaway #1 - When you give away excellent content for free and give it away again and again, it’s easier for prospects and customers to choose YOU when they make an investment.
Why? Because they get a sense of you and trust you. This is Business, not trickery- when you provide value - people get it.
I go over this in my Manifesto’s Missing Chapter.
You must be the expert in your niche and you must be willing to prove it.
I’ve been teaching this crucial concept since day one.
Coincidentally, I just returned from a mastermind meeting where, I’m glad to say, everyone was saying the exact same thing. Only I was saying it last year. Now it seems my ideas are mainstream. Giving away great content is critical to your online success.
Accomplishment #2
Assembling A Business Dream Team
We’re not only growing in cyberspace, but in the real world too!
We’ve Expanded Our Staff of Talented People!
If you’ve been with me for a while, you know about Dan and Sheila, two very special people greatly responsible for my success to this point.
And this year our projections show us above $10 million.
So I knew it was time to assemble a bigger team that could execute well and take us to the next level.
They would have to support me and Strategic Profits in all projects already slotted, and prepare us for even faster growth as market demand for our products has gone off the charts. Without the bigger team we were saddled with constraints.
Takeaway #2 - Who you bring on when you first start growing your business makes all the difference in your success. The right people, with the right skills and energy will make or break you.
As every farmer who wants to harvest knows, the right crop with no sun or rain, won’t grow. The right people are like the perfect weather conditions…
A Quick SideNote:
I had a head start on this one because of lessons I learned years ago when I started other businesses. Who you hire to work with you counts for more than you can imagine, and mistakes can be costly.
So as Strategic Profits started bursting at the seams, and I knew it was time to bring new people on board, I called an old friend, Paul. I asked him if he could spend the next five weeks recruiting the ‘A’ players for me that I needed to succeed.
Paul worked 6 days a week, 12 hours a day placing ads, conducting phone interviews and meeting with prospective team members.
And when he reduced each pool of applicants from five hundred or so all the way down to five - I conducted interviews with the five finalists. Then I did the second (and sometimes third interviews) with my top choices.
As I look around my office right now I can tell you that all that hard work was worth it. It has really paid off for me.
The first people you bring on to your team can either catapult your business to the next level or sink it. I’ve experienced both ends and know that you must absolutely spend the time it takes to find the right people.
I always laugh when I hear others talking about how hiring the right people is easy.
It’s not. And anyone who tells you otherwise is either a fool, got lucky or doesn’t know.
But there is a way to go about hiring the best and in future posts I will share what I’ve learned. I’ve put together effective hiring systems over the past twelve years of my business life.
Systems that have enabled me to hire well over 500 of my own employees, many of whom are now presidents or senior directors in companies like Diesel Jeans, Giorgio Armani, Dolce & Gabanna, Prada, E-trade, American Express, etc.
Enough about hiring winners. Let me tell you about the ones I snagged:
1. Brian - Brian was a corporate turnaround expert. He was the ‘go to guy’ that several major banks would bring in when one of their big loan clients was in jeopardy of defaulting on their multi-million dollar loans.
He would be the temporary CEO for a year or two and get the company profitable again, pay off the banks and ride away into the sunset with a very fat paycheck.
Where was Brian before that? He was in charge of the manufacturing and distribution of every AOL CD you ever got in the mail or found in your shopping bag at the mall.
Brian is now Chief Operating Officer of Strategic Profits, freeing me up from day to day responsibilities as he runs the company.
2. Dwain… I stole Dwain away from his position as the Managing Director of one of the best direct response advertising agencies in the country with clients like Weight Watchers, American Express, Time-Life Books, etc.
I was actually a client of his agency back when I was experiencing explosive growth with my chain of hypnosis centers. It’s great to reconnect with Dwain because his proven track record provides a solid foundation as we build our new business.
In addition to these A-players, we’ve added even more talented people to take over in other critical areas.
How can I be sure they are so talented?
If you’ve already read The Missing Chapter then you won’t be shocked to hear that we held AUDITIONS for these positions.
We brought in groups of people who had to try out, for up to two weeks at a time.
We then picked the cream of the crop and sent the others home with our apologies and their pay for the period they were here.
There’s a lot to be said for try and buy. After DOZENS of people passed through our doors, we built a great team of winners.
They are:
Ken - Content creation and marketing copy expert
Peter - Content creation and research expert
Ricardo - Day to day in-office accounting expert
Carlos - Web, video and audio expert
Lauren - Graphic creation and design expert
Artie - World-class software developer
Accomplishment #3
We’re Moving to New Offices - Built to Suit the Needs of Our Growing Enterprise!
All of these new people barely fit in our current location.
So we signed a lease last Friday and will be moving into our new office in Delray Beach (just down the road from Agora’s offices) in mid-February.
It’s not soon enough - but getting it done the way we want takes time. Creating the right atmosphere, not to mention all the new technology connections takes the right timing. After living in cramped overflowing offices for a while now, we want our new ‘home’ to be done up right.
I’m actually going to be giving a presentation on what it takes to go from a one-man band to orchestrating a staff of close to 20 people for my coaching clients next month at our bi-annual seminar.
You too can get there from here!
Takeaway #3 - As Soon As You Can, Get Out of Your House
My super-successful client Mike Filsaime once asked me, “How much money do I need before I can move into an office?”
That’s a very good question to ask yourself, too. Running a business from home doesn’t work for most people. It’s like the separation of “church and state.” If your home is your retreat and resting place from the world, and it’s also your office - hmmm. It only gets worse if your workstation is in your bedroom.
Sure it’s been done, but it often creates an unhealthy mix for lots of reasons.
I’m not saying go out now and get an office if you can’t afford it - but there’s a lot to be said for aiming for that ASAP - your level of commitment and professionalism goes off the chart when there is the monthly lease payment to think about. No more playing at work!
When you really want to build and grow you can’t assemble a staff like I have - and be working out of your home.
Mike took my advice and so should you.
Accomplishment #4
Strategic ProfitsBusiness Growth System Got Better- a lot more accessible and user-friendly.
We’ve learned from what our customers said they wanted and created a new improved eLearning platform for BGS. You can actually get to the next level easily at your own pace with our new platform and step-by-step approach.
Not only will you get what you need to know quicker and more intuitively, you’ll have more time to think about what’s next for you and then join my new Over My Shoulder Group coming soon to a web screen near you.
Takeaway #4 - Create and Develop One Core Product that Makes You a Stand Out!
Most online business owners create one product and go on to the next and then to the next. But by developing a core product and constantly making it better, you can dominate your niche and totally eliminate your competition. It works!!!
Some marketers launch separate ventures one after another. Instead of perfecting and developing their one core product they leapfrog from one lily pad to the next - along with their competitors. Who wants to be in the ‘me too’ business when you could be the ‘me only’ contender in your marketplace?
More isn’t necessarily better when it comes to product niches. Standing out in one field is where the money is.
So What About Your Best Of 2006?
Even I feel inspired by what worked for me in 2006. What about your 2006… Do some real winners jump out at you? If it’s tough to look back on, that means you can’t ignore it! More later…
In building your business in 2007, make sure you have everything that worked for you last year on your ‘Victory’ list.
That’s why I’m here writing you today. Building on what works is the foundation for future success.
All the great athletes build their game around what works. That’s the core.
So if you’re like me, you’ll take a good hard look at the list of great things you’ve done in 2006 and make sure you keep what works in your plans for this year.
Then put your list in a safe place until you return to this same web site. You will need it when we continue with your plan to make this year the best it can be.
Your Success in 2007 Depends on You - and What I Have For You in My Next Installment
We started with the good news: Your Successes in 2007.
We’ll give you a day or so to think about your accomplishments - because the next question will matter more. You know my view on constraints.
To Higher Profits,
Rich Schefren
Strategic Profits
P.S. I’ll be letting you know a little more about my new
Over My Shoulder Group that is sure to give you the an edge
eliminating your business problems in 2007.
Hey Guys,
Here’s a concept that can make you a TON of money.
It’s called visitor value.
Now, you’ve PROBABLY heard of visitor value before.
But I want to explain why you’re probably not paying
as much attention to it as you should.
As you know, I’m a big fan of metrics. I think it’s
important to measure and improve everything you do.
Even if you don’t measure everything all the time,
it’s good to establish benchmarks to see how well
things are performing in your business.
Back to visitor value.
The reason visitor value is so important is that it
gives you a bottom line figure that you can use to
measure the effectiveness of your business.
But wait, there’s more!
By focusing on increasing your visitor value, you’ll
be improving all aspects of your business.
You’ll have to offer better products, that in turn
deserve higher price points.
You’ll have to write better sales copy to increase
conversion of visitors into buyers.
You’ll have to offer up-sells and cross-sells to
drive up visitor value even higher.
And what happens when you start doing these things?
You start acting like a real business.
While you may think visitor value is just a number,
there’s much more behind it. Multiple dimensions of
profit can be discovered if you know how to analyze
this critical metric.
We’ve only touched the surface of visitor value, so
if you’re not currently tracking it, then you should
figure out how, as soon as possible.
And if you are tracking visitor value, then make a
list with 20 ideas on how you can increase it, then
pick the top three and start implementing them
immediately.
To Higher Profits,
Rich Schefren
P.S. A lot of people are asking how to get into my
coaching programs. But the short answer is there are
no open spots at this time. I’ll be making a few
structural changes (to accomodate for my newer, more
powerful material) and when I’m ready, I’ll open the
doors again. So stay tuned, but until then, I suggest
you take a look at your visitor value!
Hey Guys,
I hope you’re doing well!
And I hope you’re implementing some (or hopefully MANY) ideas from my recent reports.
Now as you probably know by now, the launch was NOT what I expected.
As usual, I’m writing something up that I think you’ll find very interesting (which you can then turn into business profit).
I don’t want to go into detail here, but what I’m about to reveal will be something that you’ve never heard from a well know marketing personality.
It’s all about analyzing what works and what doesn’t.
And facing the current reality can be one of the biggest challenges that any business owner can have.
So for now, please review the Internet Business Manifesto, The Missing Chapter, and The Final Chapter.
If you study these documents carefully, especially the sections on planning and strategy, then you may be able to discern what’s coming.
To Higher Profits,
Rich Schefren
P.S. The main lesson in this post is that there are probably things in your business that you’re not “owning up to”. These might be problems or issues that you just don’t want to face. They must be addressed. Your profits will thank you for doing so.
