Brian,

Thanks for being so transparent and sharing this story. I could not help but think of Romans 8:28, "And we know that God causes everything to work together* for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them." (NLT). Often the things we think of as just another circumstance are God's engineering our circumstances to teach us deeper lessons of life to make us better people. In another place he assures us that he has great plans for us and for our good. It never hurts us to be humbled from time to time as we realize how humanly selfish we are if we will take the lesson to heart and change our attitudes and actions.

Thanks again for reminding us that we need to think more of others than we do of ourselves. In so doing we will only grow.

Brian,

Thank you for sharing your story.

I saw one of Glenn Becks Christmas programs a couple of years ago in Austin and I remember being very moved by his sweater story as well.

Thank you for reminding me of the story and how it applied to your situation. It was very timely for me.

I have been going through some issues with my business partners and have only been focusing on what I am not getting...you helped me remember that I have a lot to be thankful for.

Thank you,

Pete

Brian,

What a moving, eye opener. I have always believed that things happen for a reason and that if we take the time to look closer we are able to see or understand the reason. I find that I am constantly surrounded by reminders of how lucky I am, even in the most trying times of my life.
Just by taking a few minutes each day to look around ourselves would give each of us a better understanding of how lucky we are, each of us in our own special way.

Good health and happiness to all

Wow - great story Brian. Sometimes it's those silly small, minute things that make us think. Honestly, I felt like that after watching the new Brad Pitt movie Benjamin Button.

I thought and my eyes welled up just thinking about how life is soooo damn short. People are dying, my uncle has cancer...

It's not always about success and recognition. What's funny is when you love, contribution, give back, and truly care for people ... you get success. :)

That thought right there has changed my entire life.

Love... dude. Love.

Congratulations on the discovery...

Wow, that left me teary-eyed!

We oftentimes neglect the most important thing in life: compassion. If we do not have this, we are all reduced to animals. We must learn to appreciate all the people around us, the blessings that we have no matter how big or small they are, value relationships, cherish family and friends, and live everyday of your life as if it's the last.

As Socrates puts it: 'An unexamined life is not worth living.'
