In my experience, if I give out some good content that helps people in the very first step towards their end goal, and I prove that they can achieve their end goal, and I also make it very simple to them, then they will want to go further down that path and buy my stuff.

I teach people Dreamweaver and webdesign, and I make it as simple as possible, so they want more. And it works very well.

But if I overcomplicate things, they will not desire to go further.

I optin to numerous ‘free’ gifts as a means of learning and research. What I find is that marketers are so keen to move onto the sales pitch once they grab your details, the quality of the ‘free’ reports etc is severely lacking and carries no real value. This in turn make me less likely to want to buy anything from them.
