Website visitors...
No matter how many you've got, you want more. To get more you must know your market, your visitors, and your customers cold.
Sadly, most online entrepreneurs know more about their favorite sitcom characters than they do their customers or visitors.
Here's a painless way to make immediate progress in knowing your site, your visitors, and your market slightly better than you do now.
Last night while surfing, I stumbled onto this nifty little demographics predictor from Microsoft. All you have to do is type in your URL or keyword. (sure beats analyzing analytics - but unfortunately it's not a replacement.)
Anyway, once you hit "go" immediately you're greeted with a predicted male-female distribution of your site visitors, and a breakdown by age group.
I wasn't really shocked by my results, let me know if you are.
You can use the tool here: Microsoft Demographics Predictor
Also, if you are interested in small little tidbits like this, let me know. My bookmarks are overflowing with lots of cool stuff like this and better.

How accurate is the data that the tool provides?
The buttom of the page says that it is only a proof of concept.
Rich,
Definitely let us know about any cool programs, resources, or tidbits you come across that could help us run our businesses better.
Thanks!
Well, it looked great, but it just comes up “failed to predict” for all the urls i tried. Some of them have good ranking, some don’t. but the only one i could get to work was yours.
Rich,
Anything you provide for us, I’m all ears. Resources like that would be way cool. Bring it on man.

Hi Rich,
I tested on three sites of mine and the results were handy to know. I then tested on a site that women would predominantly visit (must be the skeptic in me) and it showed up with women at a much higher percentage. What do you know!
Thanks again for the valuable resource. That’s why I have your blog on my home page on RSS feed and no-one else. If people don’t offer me valuable information they’re gone!
Lesley
Thanks Rich for this - hadn’t seen it and am always looking for new ways to track/better understand my customers. Would love to hear about any other tools, resources you know about.
All the best

Rich,
I’m unable to believe on this statistics.
When a visitor reaches any website unless if he/ she feeds the information sex and age group, how come this will be possible?
I may be 100% wrong. Please correct if I’m wrong.
Thanks.
Rich –
I am a brand-new reader of your blog (referred to by a friend) — and within 5 MINUTES I found this post — great info! Like the reader above, I will also be putting your feed in my RSS reader.
Wonderful to find you…Now to look at some more of your posts…
I just put up 4 or 5 blogs in the last two weeks. I should say I just learned how to put one up and sort of got taken over by all the excitement of actually being able to do this by myself. As you can probably tell I’m not a “techie”.
That being said, it was fun, I’m trying to advertise some affiliate products. But I noticed I made a couple of mistakes. One was though the copy is good, I wanted to put something a little snappier on the blogs. While going thru my emails tonight I found your email and am really glad you sent it to me. I love collecting information and I really like your site. It’s now in my favorites, but mostly because today your 400+ selling phrases is just what I was looking for. So, thanks so much. You are a life-saver.
