This could be a useful tool, depending on the niche you examine.

If your niche is sufficiently large there'll be enough data that GT can plot somehting meaningful.

If the niche is too small there might not be enough data and GT won't show much, if anything. But that in itself is valuable to know since it's one more data point in evaluating whether or not you've found yourselft a good niche to work.

The best thing to do is integrate use of GT into your system for identifying and evaluating potenial markets.

Rich:

Thanks for the refresher on GT in planning our marketing & advertising programs.
One big plus is its ability to identify seasonal trends that pop and then drop. A good plan for strategic ad campaigns. No point in spending on a product key in its "off" cycle.

Best regards, Kent Looft

Hi!

Great tip :)

I went to check it out and Google has added a comment to the page that says the stats are now updated daily.

This has to make this tool even MORE effective in spotting trends, especially if something is say, in the news or checking weekly for a month to see a trend.

Anyway, just thought I would add this update in case you guys didn't read the "fine print" at the bottom of the Google Trends home page :)

Rich,
Undoubtedly, social networking will be something that marketers will be looking to leverage more going forward. However, I'd have been more keen to read an elaborate post on using Google Trends for keyword research ----- to be honest, I felt that while you gave a pointer or a nugget of information [ie. use Google Trends for research], which has its own value, you refrained from getting into greater detail.
Best,
Manoj

Hi Rich,

ya you're right not many people use google trends. i'm not using it because i'm still behind on understanding the importance of keyword phrase and how to use it properly. therefore still not at the level to research on trends. i need some success first before looking at targeting trends. i know it is important and it could bring good biz and i will use it in my biz someday. so thanks for the insight in this issues.

Hi Rich,

Thanks for the link.

This Key Work trend gives us good idea about the location from where the keyword has generated.
