Today’s lesson is the most important one in the series so far.
In case you haven’t been following along, I suggest you get yourself up to speed first. Because it’ll make what you’re going to read here much more powerful and useful to you.
We started on last Friday with a blog post made up entirely of questions. It’s titled, “A Daring Blog Post.” (Click on it and read this one first).
Next, on Monday we continued the conversation with a post that answered the riddle of whose successful marketing starts with a single sentence. It’s titled, “Entrepreneurial Success in a Sentence.” (Click on this and read it second).
Then yesterday, I showed you the single biggest mistake both entrepreneurs and marketers are making online today and what you need to do to solve it. It’s titled, “Greater Empathy = Greater Rapport = Greater Profits.” (Click on this and read this third).
Good. Now you’re up to speed…and primed to get the most out of this post.
It’s now 7:45 a.m. and I’m writing this post from my ocean office. In fact, here’s a picture of it.

Yep, I’m writing this on the beach on a yellow legal pad.
Why am I not pecking away on my laptop?
Because I discovered long ago I get my best writing done far way from a computer. It’s no secret that I have ADD and its simply too tempting to have access to too many files when the task at hand is writing. Plus it seems much more personal to me to write to you in freehand.
Why am I at the beach?
Because it’s the most inspiring place for me to be. In fact, I start every morning here (unless it’s raining). I always start by writing in my journal first for about an hour. Next, I tacked the most important business task at hand. And today that’s writing this here post to you.
Now you might be saying to yourself “well, that’s all well and good Rich, but how does what you’re doing relate to me improving my marketing and making a lot more money online?“
And you know what? That’s a fair question…so let me clear that up for you right here.
YOU’LL LEARN AS MUCH (IF NOT MORE) WATCHING…
WHAT I DO RATHER THEN JUST READING WHAT I TEACH!
You see, believe it or not, in just 3 days of blog posting I’ve already accomplished quite a few objectives. Some of them are the same goals others struggle with for months to achieve. So the most valuable advice I can give you today is to lift up my skirt, so to speak, and show you the method behind my madness.
O.K. now before I begin I should admit you’re probably not starting out at the same place I did last Friday. Heck, I’ve got a reputation, I’m a known entity, and I’ve got a substantial list. But so what?
Even if it took you ten times as long and you got only 1/2 the result I did, would it be so bad?
Ten times as long would be 30 days instead of 3, big deal right? But what results am I talking about? Well, brothers and sisters, read on to find out…
Last Thursday, I was looking over our website stats. It wasn’t hard to notice our traffic was way down, engagement was sort of non-existent and our sales were less than I’d like them to be.
Also, I felt I have become a little out of touch with what the markets’ concerns, questions and desires were.
So, I decided to DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!
And you can learn more from what I did in these past 3 posts than what you’ve learned from reading them.
On Friday, we had more traffic to the blog than we’ve had over the past three months. And more visitors engaged (judging by the number of comments) than we’ve had in over SEVEN motnhs.
In addition, I immediately plugged into the concerns, questions and desires you had, my dear reader, by reading all the comments you graciously shared with me.
Now, if that wasn’t enough, we also saw sales shoot up a bit. All-in-all not too shabby from a single blog post.
So on Friday and throughout the weekend, we achieved positive momentum in all the key areas I was concerned about.
And to an entrepreneur like me, positive results in any marketing is more addictive than crack to a junkie, so I entered this week like a man on a mission.
Next, on Monday I added to the momentum. How so? Our traffic on Monday more than doubled again, engagement continued and ancillary sales inched up even higher. And I got an even clearer picture of what was on your mind.
Then, yesterday (Tuesday) our traffic doubled again. In fact, yesterday’s post hit Alexa top 10 most popular pages on the entire Internet at least 3 separate times!
The engagement continued and miscellaneous sales were even higher than I expected. So, you can see why I am so excited to share these results with you and help you translate them to your own business.
O.K, enough bragging. It doesn’t really suit me, but I thought it was important to share with you the achievements so you’d be even more motivated to use what you’re learning here.
So, what are the lessons?
Well young grasshopper, I’m glad you asked. Let’s…
BREAK DOWN THE MAJOR OBJECT-LESSONS
In Friday’s post:
In Monday’s post:
In Tuesday’s post:
So, there you have it. What do you think?
And more importantly… CAN’T YOU DO THE SAME?
Like I said, often times you can learn more from watching what I do.
O.K., now even though I’ve shown you the method behind my madness – I would REALLY appreciate your feedback on this post. Especially since tomorrow is a clean slate. And I got to figure out what I am going to teach you next.
That stated… Can you please share with me (in the comments below):
1 – the most valuable take-away you had from this post…
2 – how you’ll use what I taught you today…
3 – what you want me to write about tomorrow (even if you’ve already told me in prior posts)
And, oh yeah, can you please retweet this post (it’s below the title and to the right, remember?) and feel free to repost it on your blog (as long as you credit me and link to the site) if you so desire.
till tomorrow at 10 AM (sharp)…
To higher profits and beyond,
Rich Schefren

1. This might sound simplistic and trite, but i too like to write the old fashioned way but with a fountain pen on paper, i always felt like it was my dirty secret, but its a nice change of pace.
Your increased involvement def is the reason i am commenting right now. Human nature/self interest (me included) wants to see their name in lights., by engaging and asking me, you learn about our deepest desires/problems. You get a feel for the pulse of your market
However, your words…”I DECIDED TO DO SOMETHING” had more of impact on me. You took action and just started posting, commenting, so much that it inspired me too….
2. …apply your lesson. I started a blog this morning, not pretty, not polished something that’s been simmering in me and it was time to just do something. anything. not sure who said it but “money loves speed”
3.
fantastic james!
glad you are DECIDING TO DO SOMETHING TOO
keep up the good work. and i hope what i revealed today makes your posts more productive and profitable.
rich
ps – what happened to #3?
not sure what happened to,#3.
3. you mentioned in a previous post the difference between marketing and selling. would like to hear more thoughts on the difference
also, since i forgot to post my question, i did read & was influenced by Graemes ? below. I too would be interested in hearing your thoughts on building up from scratch…esp your own experience with strategic profits, and what you would do different today compared with when you started?
Thanks again
JD
thanks for clarifying…
and your interest is duly noted (smile)
Hi Rich,
Even if you put out great content, it is the interaction with the readers that takes the relationship to a whole new level. You are personally making yourself available, which is completely different from what most experts in your position would do. It shows that you have got a deep interest in helping them achieve their goals.
It got me thinking that this might be a good way to structure all blog posts. I am thinking of creating a topic for the week and then letting the readers take it where they want. This way you go a lot deeper and not just skim the surface before moving on to the next topic.
If you had a brand new blog with no list and not traffic. What would be the first thing you would do to start getting attention to your blog?
Thanks for your help.
Graeme.
i agree – i think it’s a really good way to structure posts – of course, that’s a challenge when you’ve got little going on (i can appreciate that).
so that leads me to your question… which is an excellent one btw, i’m not sure i’ll be answering that one next, but if you’ll keep bringing it to the surface i’ll definitely cover it.
of course, if that’s the direction everyone wants me to go in… i might post about it a lot sooner
I’d vote for an answer to this question. I don’t seem to be able to get past this point with my blogs and other sites. I haven’t had much success in building lists. Using Twitter, StumbleUpon, etc hasn’t helped.
I’m obviously doing something wrong here but all I hear out there is that I need to do it — not enough how to.
As for what I took away from the post, the one thing that I struggle with is timely posts. I know that I need to get more regular, but it hasn’t been one of my strong points.
Since I’ll be doing just that shortly (again after many years), with two different blogs, I’ll tell what I’ll be doing. Then basics are that I talk about who I am, and what to expect over time, from the blog(s). One will be business based, and the other personal, since it will cover far more ground.
The business one will have a narrow focus on the root idea of the book I have nearing production. “How to Double the effectiveness of your Advertising, Marketing and Selling, for Micro Businesses.”
The personal blog will cover politics, religion, survival (long and short term), and anything else that strikes my fancy, including replies.
Both will allow comments and sometimes (depending on how the comments are going), personal replies. (The drugs I take to cope with a serious back injury restrict my ability to be as active as I want.) The Business blog, will be monthly, and the personal one probably weekly. Subject to current events. :-)
Rich, I really think it’s your belief and expectation that did it. I think you saw the results (which we all did) and stepped out and decreed that you will change them.
This belief, fueled you do get the results you did, which are amazing. You got the talent and the knowledge, I think you laked the incentive…
Personal interaction is great but posts written personally by you are even greater :D
Congratulations and keep it up!
jeez paul i’m blushing… thanks. and i will!
Afternoon rich & ofcourse to all ya readers too,
Nice pic down the beach mate, I for one love that beach in delray (good times there)
Anyhow …
It’s nice to have somewhere to go in the mornings and get your writting done with the good old fasion pen & paper,
There’s no better way than writting the old fasion way right?
I write so much more creative with a pen & paper (normally a little later than 4am normally?)
But right now I’m writting on my iPhone and it’s just not the same …
Anyhow …
… Something I’m gonna pick up and start using from this post,
Is what you’re doing with your personal replys to comments ..
Something i’ve NEVER done – Ever on my blog?
And it’s about to change – trust me!!!
auguest 2009I had my single best blog post with over 1100 comments
My 2nd best is about 600 comments
Now even though
I read every single comment I dont post any replies,
Imagine what’s gonna happen when I do?
So now it’s time for a little more interaction over at my blog …
Sidenote:
I’m not going to pimp my product here even though its about this topic,
& I learned it from you anyhow …
But something i do VERY cool on my blog is i get huge input from my readers with a cliff hanger post
Which is set to find out my readers pain & frustrations -
then I write my free reports targeted at just this – right at the reader emotions
as now I know there state of mind
as there in a totally diffrent place than I am …
So it targets my writting perfect
Ofcourse I learned this from rich and added my own twist to it – but now my reports are like the best free marketing material I could ever own for my business,
& they don’t sell a single product what so ever within them,
BUT
by the time the reader’s finished my reports they’re in a state of wanting to buy from
And good ol’ rich taught me this trick
I’ve done it 3 or 4 time on my blog last year & it added many 6 figures to my bank balance,
Pretty cool stuff :-)
thanks for setting the standard rich
Alex
aw, shucks….. thanks for the feedback alex… and EVERYONE should model what you do… cause we all know it works EXTREMELY well.
Rich
I’m still here, nothing makes me happier than a plate of gourmet Corvus frugilegus…

1 – the most valuable take-away you had from this post…
I noticed that if you carry over the marketing as seduction analogy from the male point of view and look at this post with those glasses, you can see some very striking similarities in all human relationships. Take a minute to go to the top of this post and don’t think in terms of a client relationship, but as a dating relationship.
So, while doing this, you are going to play the role of the female (even though you may not be), and you going to see what Rich did to attract you and keep you interested.
He did something different and unexpected. Chicks dig that. How often does their male suitor go out of their way to do that?
He teased you a bit. Enough said.
He engaged in the conversation. He just didn’t talk about himself — what a turn off that is.
He delivered on what he teased you about. He actually came through! How many guys can say that?
He taught you something new. Leadership implies power and we all know what Al Pacino in Scarface said about getting the women after getting the power. That’s a stretch, but a good woman needs a good man to be a good leader.
It is interesting to me that I recently met a young man (early 20’s — I’m early 40’s). I took my daughter to a rock concert and ended up talking to this young man about women. He said he had practically given up trying to “understand” women and somehow it wasn’t worth it and on and on. Does this sound familiar to your client relationships?
My main point is that all human relationships suffer from apathy which can be construed as a failure to RESPOND to our original thought which was “That which is most personal is most general”.
Consider this young man’s response — I give up, women don’t appreciate me for who I am or what I like. I told him, “So what, who cares!”. All women have the same basic needs and it is your job to SHOW HER that you understand what those are. If you do that, then you will reap the benefits, including her showing an interest in who you are and what you like.
He kept on going on about how everybody is different, blah, blah, blah. My point to him was that it is not such a BAD THING to realize that all women have the same basic needs! When you understand that, it can be quite liberating and quite rewarding if you act using this principle (for both parties involved). It doesn’t make you a bad person because you don’t follow the crowd and think that every woman is a completely different and complex puzzle to solve. I’m not trying to minimize our uniqueness, I’m merely suggesting that a slight attitude adjustment can really simplify relationships (AS LONG AS THE ATTITUDE IS GENUINE)!
2 – how you’ll use what I taught you today…
The biggest problem is in the effort it takes for showing and doing. I’ve been happily married for 17 years, and I have not applied theses principals nearly as much as I should have. Knowing this, I could be full of regret and think about how much better my marriage might have been if I would have understood these principles and ACTED on them on a daily basis, or I could use it to take my relationship to the next level.
Lately, I have been purposely setting aside the time to do for my marriage just as Rich is suggesting in this post (go back and look againg starting with DOING SOMETHING DIFFERENT), and guess what — I can actually FEEL the attraction growing from my spouse — not just physical attraction, but a new level of emotional attraction and closeness than I have ever felt before, and it all starts with attitude translated into action.
3 – what you want me to write about tomorrow (even if you’ve already told me in prior posts)
I would like to discover here about attitude as it pertains to gaining momentum with your relationships (client and otherwise). You need to genuinely care about the struggles that we all face together in order to have the right attitude to address those struggles in a personal way. When I think of attitude, I think of being smooth, smart, and genuine at the same time. What do you think?
wow alex… a really great analogy here – one that draws a lot of parallels… great job!
regarding your question… i am actually doing a webinar tomorrow night on the right personal philosophy that’s need for success in any area of life – whether it be business, relationships, finance, health, etc…
the short if it is this: it’s the micro decision you make (or don’t make) daily that make all the difference. that there is often times a long delay between cause and effect, therefore the subtle difference between taking the “right” actions or making the “wrong” decisions is so slight most people miss it entirely.
for example if i really felt different tomorrow if i got on the stair-machine this morning it would be a lot easier to be consistent. or if i really felt crappy tomorrow because i ate a cheeseburger today it would be a lot easier to say no to the cheeseburger.
the same distinction can be applied to all areas of life – relationships and all. so to sum up… i think it comes down to your personal philosophy and whether you have real “hope”/”optimisim” that the situation can improve if you put in the time – which is almost always the case.
i plan on writing a post about this at some point – no time soon – so i spent a little longer answering here – i hope that helps
1) + valuable takaway: that are telling us again that you need to treat people like people using the stuff that people who work with people have found to be successful in getting people to do stuff. i.e. use integrity, be coherent and take the actions you say you will. Something that is sadly missing in most money grabbing IM stuff-your-pockets type launches.
2) my planned action steps: being in the former above category, I already treat people like people and not numbers with integrity and consistency. However, the fact that you are raising it again here reminds me how trust in offers made of the internet seems to be under attack…so time to look offline again too.
3) the reason why you’re telling us this (again) :)
Out of the Box Thinking!
And I bet a lot of your readers didn’t know what you were doing UNTIL you told them (I am one of them). But not everyone can do what you just did. Not everyone has achieved ‘EXPERT” status yet. and I dare say your “expert” status is one of the main reasons we keep coming back.
We are looking for our “answers” our “fix its”, and we have found an “expert” that is asking us what we want to hear about, and is willing to give us answers . . . maybe. I noticed you skipped several questions people posted, and several you said to remind you of again. But then, I wouldn’t expect you to answer every single question, just the “direction” we want to go in maybe?
I think today your post may have been a mistake. You told us what you were doing to us. The trickery; the manipulation; the REAL reasons behind this project. You needed to fix YOUR problems: your sales and traffic were down.
Did you REALLY want to help us? But then, why are we all here? We want to learn how to make it to the bedroom, and not necessarily from the heart. SO, the kettle shouldn’t call the pot black.
I will be interested in hearing how James does with his blog, and Graeme too if he starts his blog also. I know almost nothing about either of them (I did click on their names and went to their web sites) but somehow I don’t think they will get the response you did.
Now you ask “Well, Noel, why don’t you just start one too?” and I respond, “I may be an expert at something, but nobody knows that yet”. I could put up the most “inspiring” blog ever written, and probably no one would ever read it. I need to spend my time doing something that will work for me right now. The “technique” you just showed us can work for an established “expert”, but not one without a big list to put it in front of, I think.
So I too ask the same question that Gaeme does, restated; “how does one get people to accept you as an expert when nobody knows who your are?” How do you get an audience? How do you get people to read your “words of wisdom” when you are not perceived as an expert yet?
I don’t care about what works for you. You are an established expert with a large following. What you are doing now would not have worked for you when you first got started. No one would have read your “all questions” blog.
I want to know what will work FOR ME. Have you forgotten about MY problems?
****************************
Didn’t expect that, did you? See how easy it is to have people lose confidence in you?
People are skeptical, untrusting. Their problems make them week. Problems are soft spots if found out, others can poke at them. So they are careful about who they share them with.
I believe if one wants to become an expert problem solver, they MUST try and do it from the heart, or others are likely to find out and turn on them.
I am not saying that you are not really trying to help us out, just that it is easy to make a mistake in the interchange if one is not careful. Especially if they ARE not coming from the heart. It is hard to keep a lie going, but the truth will always be
wow noel… i didn’t expect that… but appreciate your comments and criticisms nonetheless.
just so you know… the reason i do what it is i do is because i care, if i didn’t i’d do something else – i truly believe i could make a lot more money in other areas but i don’t care as much. i certainly can’t make you believe that – but ask any client who’s ever been in one of my live coaching programs and i pretty confident you’ll hear some over the top stories. i have other acts that would help support me here, but i don’t want to be too defensive or make this all about me.
next, regarding my intentions – the fact is, entrepreneurs and marketers read my stuff because they either want to make more money, work less, or build a business. if i don’t deliver content that helps along those lines then i’m not a useful source for them. so by sharing my intentions and the results i can teach, show people the benefit of what i am teaching, and also confirm that i walk my talk and that there’s value (in regards to growing a business and increasing sales) in the content i provide.
once again – i appreciate your feedback, and do take it to heart. i guess the only reason it doesn’t really resonate with me – is that i know i’m one of the good-guys, that my stuff works, that i care immensely, and i’ve reached a level of success personally and professionally to not be that sensitive about my intentions being misconstrued by a few. in fact, that often comes with the territory. now, if everyone felt the same way, it would cause greater reflection on my part, but at least for now i think this perspective is the minority.
regarding oliver’s question i plan on answering it, but a post like that requires more thought on my part – since i am not in that situation and haven’t beeen for quite some time. also, i believe no advice is better than bad advice. so I now have to do a little research, talk to a few people, etc… to figure out what i would recommend as the best course to travel down.
i hope that clarifies things for you – and i hope you stick with this blog long enough to get the answers you are seeking
Well Rich,
I was trying an experiment of my own, but it didn’t seem to go too well.
I don’t think you are one of the “bad guys”. It is this whole marketing thing.
Over the course of this blog so far, everything seems to be about how to get your customers to trust you and see you as an “expert”. The whole purpose for that is, as you say above “….they either want to make more money, work less, or build a business.”
I was trying to make the point that even you were doing this blog thing because your business was down, and you decided to do something to change that. You came out with an “out-of-the-box” idea.
But I don’t think you started this blog to help us, you started it help yourself. Your business. And That is OK. Everyone in business wants to increase their sales, or find a way to do it with less time.
When you told us above what your efforts had caused, how effective it had been, was being, I thought “wow! he has been romancing us”.
But I also thought you had made a mistake. You TOLD US what you were doing and why, and how good it was working. Sort of “I gotcha!”
That, in turn seemed to say, that even though you might be interested in our problems , you were certainly interested in yours. You told us so.
So I sort of responded like a customer might if they found out what was really going on (or at least what they THOUGHT” was really going on.) I wanted to see how you would react to it, and you did quite well.
Think about it. We are all here to learn how we can get our customers to buy things from us. Plain and simple. If doing “good things” achieves that, so be it.
If “seeming to do good things” achieves that, then so be it. But it might not be quite as honest.
My Point?
I firmly agree that one needs to be trustworthy, do what they say they are going to do, and if they open their mouth, something worth while should come out of it.
I also believe that the most success will come if one is honestly concerned about their customer’s problems. I believe you are. But I have seen posts here that suggest “Nice trick, think I will use it. he he he!”
I don’t want to be “tricked”. I want to be loved. I don’t want to be told “I love you” just so you can get into my pants. I want to be LOVED.
So, how can we show our potential customers we really love them? How do we become the expert that really cares? The doctor that just isn’t interested in the new yacht he wants to buy?
How do we really gain their trust? And how do you do that when nobody really knows who you are?
i am about to go to bed – so i can’t write as lengthy as a reply as i’d like to your comment.
but i guess where we sort of split in our perspectives is this – i wasn’t sharing what i had done to show you a “gotchya” – far from it… what i was doing (aside from showing a model that works) was giving you the experience from both sides. first as your readers might feel as they get swept up in the engagement, second as someone who markets- because you can do a much better job marketing when you’ve been effectively marketed to.
i guess, i don’t see it as a trick – because i do care – and i know that always has to come first, then it needs to be displayed, etc… plus if it was purely economical i’d launch a new product, or do a quick promotion for one of the many great products we have – and i’d certainly make more money doing that than this.
so, why am i doing this? because i want to (for one) and because i felt it was necessary to – for many reasons, some i’ve already given others i need to keep close to the vest (so to speak) for a while longer – and don’t go jumping to conclusion noel about what i mean by that… it’s not a trick, or some scheme, just something i feel too personal about right now, and need to let it breathe for a while before i open that can of worms.
regarding the rest of the points…. i’ll need to get back to you on those.
Dear Rich and Paul:
This conversation REALLY resonates with me, professionally and also personally.
About your questions Paul:
1) “So, how can we show our potential customers we really love them? How do we become the expert that really cares? The doctor that just isn’t interested in the new yacht he wants to buy?”
How can we show true care and love? I do believe that to prove this, one must establish trust first (below).
In regards to true care and love, IF the person puts forth the effort to protect you (even if it means telling you that internet business may not be for you…. at least right now); IF the person has hopes for you (helps you build genuine hope in yourself and your own passions and abilities); and if the person continues to deliver and remain faithful over a long time,
…then you can almost surely “feel” and “believe” that the “care/love” is there. This is after trust has genuinely been established.
2) [BUT] “How do we really gain their trust? And how do you do that when nobody really knows who you are?”
As I find myself maturing more and more as a person and marketer, I find that oftentimes the HARSH reality is that it’s HARD to get people to trust you. Sometimes, for certain audiences, it will be IMPOSSIBLE (technically) for them to trust you EVEN IF they knew about you.
Generally, in order for someone (let’s say you) to gain a little trust in you, you must be in the same boat as they are. You know, you risk the same things they risk, you are paddling WITH them on the same rickety boat. In marketing terms, this often equates to money-back guarentees (FULL or 1-year or lifetime guarentees) and such.
The way to gain true trust is to have gone through exactly what your prospect/customer/audience have gone through in their life, but not ONLY have gone through it, but also have SOLVED it personally/professionally, even if it is just by a little bit.
Find a client. That’s the shortcut to becoming an expert. My mentor’s favorite quote is, “In the land of the blind, the guy with even just ONE eye is KING.”
Find a friend, church member, family member, friend’s employer who doesn’t know one lick of marketing/blogging facts (but could benefit from it). Just put your experience and Rich’s advice into practice, learn what works for you and what doesn’t work as often.
If your first client goes well, its easier to find the next client: Just tell them you solved 1 client’s struggles and you can accomplish the same for the new one.
Once you find 1 client, finding the next 2 is easier. Once you find 2, finding the next 4 gets easier. So on and so forth.
In all reality, all you need to get started is that ONE customer who is the first to believe/trust in you. Treasure them, Bond with them (as Rich suggests), for it’s that 1, 2, or first few… that are going to turn you into an expert over time.
Sometimes you can’t be an expert in the eyes of EVERYBODY. What makes really good experts different from mediocre experts (there are those out there) is realizing that they can’t help some people….
… SO they find some OTHER EXPERT who can help the “unhelpable.”
For example, I have a marketing mentor, right? I still highly respect my marketing mentor even after he honestly told me he couldn’t help me specifically with restaurant marketing nearly as well as other niches. However, rather than leaving me with a dead end, he does know SOMEONE who IS good with the restaurant niche and arranged for us 2 to meet. ^_^
@ Rich:
1) My take-away, this really cool chance to share my thoughts and ideas! It was a pleasure to meet both you and Paul. ^_^
2) I’ll make a little “cheatsheet” out of the principles you have kindly BOLDED for me to reference when I go on my own ventures.
3) How to make blog’s genuinely “You” (as in how to make my blog genuinely “me”)? Is “me” marketable, in a practical sense? Should I chase where everybody else is running towards? Or should I have some confidence to walk my own path?
Rich, a big take away today was that engagement doesn’t have to meen positive feedback.
Some of your readers didn’t like your “question-post”, but they engaged anyway. My first thought was (when I read the first disagreeing comment) – how willl he (you Rich) strike back??? You didn’t….
Take away 2…
Now I realize why you are successful. You simpley meet youre customers and prospects where they are (You’ve said it before but now I can hear you). Insted of striking back you thank for the comment/engagement and say that you can see their point of view.
Back to the two oyher questions…
I will use this as a new ingrediens im my “business receipe”
Is there a way to map out my prospects fears, problems and desires? (Something tells me that I’ve learned this in the GPS2.0 but I can’t really see it.)
Do you have a simple process for this?
Thanks!
Fredrik
yes! fredrik… i never have a problem with a dissenting point of view… although sometimes personal criticism stings a little – but i appreciate someone telling me my experiment didn’t work for them (especially when they tell me why). i had a very similar response when i did the video split test on the blog (one billy mays style and one my standard style) – and i appreciated every comment because they were just expressing their feelings which is ultimately very important to me (sometimes ever more so then their problems).
and regarding your question…. in gps you learned the most powerful method i know about mapping the fears, problems and desires – just do a CRT for your prospects instead of yourself. it always delivers breakthroughs, but obviously takes a little work. hope that helps.
What I realized is that knowing what your readers really want can dramatically increase traffic to your blog (and of course sales).
I’ve had a similar experience when I conducted a live case study on my blog last year. The same thing happened. I got more comments on my blog than ever, and my subscribers where anticipating my next post.
When you know your subscribers and visitors biggest frustration (in other words, their hot buttons) and give them the solution for their problem, you go from the status of “another email in my inbox” to the higher status of “whenever this dude send an email, I’ll open it right away.” When doing well, this is really powerful.
It was a really interesting experience.
Franck
so franck… am i reaching that status with you yet?
#1 is really a take-away from this whole series and that is to find creative ways to engage in a “dialog” with my readers.
#2 Brainstorm and take action on at least one creative idea for starting a dialog with my readers.
#3 It also seems you managed to keep the dialog quite focused so that suggestions for next day’s post weren’t all over the map. With a blog that doesn’t have near the readership that yours has, how might one narrow down the topic without focusing so narrow that it gets no comments at all?
Hi Rich,
I find it interesting you write your blog posts by hand.
When I was working with the late, great copywriter, Gary Halbert, he always wrote his newsletters and sales letters by hand on a yellow legal pad.
He made me write all my copy out by hand, too.
It drove me crazy at first… but I think it really gave my writing a more “personal” feel.
There seems to be more of a “connection” to your thoughts when you write stuff out by hand.
Hmmmmm…. Maybe I should get back to writing my articles and copy the “old school” way Halbert taught me.
Thanks for sharing.
All the best,
Doberman Dan
wow! you worked with gary… boy, do i miss him. we were working on a project (in small bits and pieces over an extended period of time) when he passed away. he actually wrote a great salesletter for it that was never used. i actually forwarded it to his sons so they could use it but i haven’t seen them do anything with it.
i definitely feel writing by hand is better for me… i often tell people who ask me about it that because of my ADD, an hour in front of the computer writing equals about fifteen minutes of writing, where as an hour writing by hand equals an hour of writing.
Hi Rich.
That is a nice plan that you gave us.
Let me ask you a question, though. What if your blog is not even started (but will later this week)? You obviously have no list in this situation, and no JV partners either.
Will this technique work in that case too?
By the way, the reason I am not giving its address here is because it is in Spanish.
yes – the methods i’ve described will certainly work… but not nearly as well.
it seems to be a pressing question, so it’s one i am going to need to answer specifically SOONER rather than later
nice comments al, short and to the point…
if i did anything at all (it was unconscious if so) it’s probably the fact that i asked what the big takeaway was first, so it sort of gets the mind focused on the topic before surfacing the question. actually, that’s a good process… glad you asked, cause i hadn’t really thought about that, but will from now on ;-)
“if i did anything at all (it was unconscious if so)”
Your experience has trained you to do sub-consciously some things that a less experienced marketer might miss. When teaching less experienced folks, it is easy to overlook things that we take for granted.
By engaging in a dialog like this, these things are more apt to be revealed and can be addressed. (ie: “it’s probably the fact that i asked what the big takeaway was first” )
This is changing my entire thinking on how to blog. Thanks!
1 – the most valuable take-away you had from this post…
If you WILL continue to actively comment and not outsource it – there is much to learn from watching you do what you are attempting to teach – I like learning that way anyway. Having not spent much time your blog except since last Friday and noticing that you rarely comment. I WAS wondering if you were experimenting with your own version of another guru’s recently launched OPM program. If so, we should expect a new targeted product focused on voiced concerns in about 30 days, right?
2 – how you’ll use what I taught you today…
Restart journaling every morning. I need to capture more of my own thoughts around personal growth as I realize more now than ever that they are shared by most
3 – what you want me to write about tomorrow…
I reread your Manifesto – my big AHA on it was all the learning and reading is actually unproductive time (ouch!) -
What I would like for you write about is how to bring a fuzzy/vague vision into focus so one can more easily identify the specifics steps needing to be taken to make one’s spent time productive.
kerry – i made a mistake and answered your question below about clarifying your vision – i wrote a post about 2 weeks ago on that – and it ends with an exercise that is the exact one i use to clarify my vision for both myself and to share with others.
thank you for your reply
Are you referring to “Intention Deficit Disorder?”
Reviewing it now.
If not, can you be more specific as to which post?
First off, it’s really *great* and impactful to have have 7 days strung together of blog posts from you, Rich – a bonus that you are not planning them out and letting it flow. I am not growing tired posting where appropriate on forums ‘n blogs what an amazing mind and savior you have been in my businesses – setting up a mindset of building systems, get into thinking mode on a regular basis, maintaining focus on the real principles of working on your business inside lifestyle design and working through constraints to reveal new opportunities and better ways of doing the things that matter most.
Anyway, ‘nuf fandom. To the nit ‘n gritty of yr request:
QUESTION #1. Takeaways: Two of them today: I feel more empowered to continue my writing on the various notepads and notebooks I use as opposed to computers for the same reasons and struggles you have. Plus, when putting documenting and filing the writings inside a project folder or container, they are easier to reference. Tip For Folks That Do This: Make a note to go over such notes/writings with a highlighter so you can better reference the choice nuggets.
Takeaway #2: Time to get serious for me for my blog strategy for an upcoming launch in 3 months and start laying it out and just….write. See what sticks but your synopsis of the last few days is a really practical template in the process of ‘engagement design’ for kick-starting a discussion. Thanks!
QUESTION #2: Ooops, jumped the gun! Kind of mentioned that above. But I’ll add to that – a good idea to schedule in in one’s weekly action plan/schedule is time to sketch out ideas for upcoming blog content/posts. Keep it simple, for me – just 10 minutes for brainstorming ideas, I’m guessing. Just found a great product for this, btw, I have to recommend, especially for those w/ right-brain orientations struggling with scheduling(a constant struggle for me). On a great blog called Productive Flourishing. Amazing product, wicked cheap and the dude(bless him!) gives a bunch of examples away that you can start using before you buy. Check out his free planners here but for $12 you can not go wrong w/ the full-brown product – I am SOO impressed and I think you will be, too, Rich. The paid version is a whole other level. http://www.productiveflourishing.com/free-planners/ (no, not an affiliate link for cynical among you!)
QUESTION #3: Hmm, my instinct is to trust that you and the cabal of all these wonderful posters will work it on out but how can that happen without my own participation, right? Sooooo, I’ll shoot a bit off subject, perhaps and just go for the what’s in my gut.
I read over 30 books easily last year and Lord knows how many reports ‘n ebooks, too many – I’ve come more discerning the last six months. (I have accelerated my reading via Learning Acceleration program!) One of my favorites was a “A Whole New Mind” by Daniel Pink. It’s worthy of discussion(at some point) the premise of his idea of a whole new discipline of thinking is coming into our lives: by embracing the power of a synergy of left-brain and right-brain thinking and competencies inside your hiring of staff and assessing one’s own strengths and weaknesses you gain strategic edge in your marketplace — and amongst your peers and with assessing customer needs better.
That the world is moving away from logically-minded folks to more creatively minded people is debatable, but it strikes me as on the mark.
Which reminds me – a good time for me to re-read my highlights on this book!
Do I sense a product launch coming? ;-P Hope so! :-D
i bought those planners – i really like the way they look and i’m excited to get cracking on them… maybe tonight, after i finish working.
we are working on an opm program – but it’s for bgs and the webinar is more of a new and improved version of the manifesto and missing chapter with a few other concepts that i’ve only taught in my coaching program thrown in. but what i am doing here isn’t related whatsoever – (i already know those problems and challenges all too well)
regarding the vision – i wrote a post about two weeks ago – where i end with an exercise (the one i find most valuable) for clarifying your vision – i think it’ll provide you the answers you need.
Excellent News! I’m in BGS(FC and LOEM, as well) so I look forward to all that’s in the works, I recall you mentioning the updating of the Manifesto on a BGS call a few weeks ago…..off to find that post I missed……..
Hey, Rich…
That is such a nice picture!
I am, when I can (too cold now for that here where I live, he, he…) doing just the same: writing rather than typing.
I go to the beach early in the morning, I lye down on my belly and stay for a while to feel the sand, listen to the sea sounds and seagulls squeaks…
..after a while, I start to detach myself from these and my mind is whirling with thoughts.
I take out my ballpoint pen and my notebook and start writing, as fast as I can. I never look back at my writing (that’s for later) but instead, write exactly what comes to my mind. I try to put on paper as much as I can from the ideas that start popping to me.
After half an hour or more (sometimes an hour), my writer’s fever gets cooled and the creative juices depleted.
That is the moment when I look back and add here and there a whole word where I have used a contracted version, or correct a verb, or whatever comes to my mind.
Then I take a nap (on the beach) for a while.
When the sun is high up and starts burning, I go home and do whatever else is to be done.
Only in the evening I look again at my notes. They truly look different after this time.
What seemed to be golden in the morning, sometimes looks like rubbish by then.
So, many times those jotted ideas never come up as a full article. However, the process helped me clarify some ideas. Those may be used on some future article or may simply serve the business purpose better.
In any case, nothing is lost. All in all, good or bad writing is still a positive experience.
The difficulties start when I decide I have a good piece of work and want to type it IN…
I do need an assistant here, I’m sure! ;-)
However, as obviously I couldn’t do it as explained now…I just mimicked it by sitting on my beach chair while typing all this directly.
But then again, it is winter right now and the snow outside is almost one meter high (that would be about 40 inches.)
I wanted to share this with you and your readers.
Steve Lorenzo SEOVirtuoso
we’re kindred spirits steve!
yeah, i have my assistant janine type out my handwritten notes – she also corrects all my errors too (a nice benefit).
Rich,
1. The most important thing that caught my attention from this post was the strategy to compose a Blog Post of All Questions…
2. I’m going to give that strategy a shot after collecting questions from my readers, to see it has the same effect.
3. It would be nice if in tomorrow’s post you shared a few tips on “How to Automate Your Social Marketing Efforts…”
Thanks for continuing to share your valuable skills and strategies with us, while you build a community of like-minded, fun-loving, successful Information Marketers…
“Keep on, Keepin’ on…”
The Original “Dr. Mike”
i’m not the best guy to ask about automating social marketing efforts – maybe todd has something to add here – but there are lots of people who got this nailed a heck of lot better than yours truly. so, sorry dr. mike – i don’t smell a post on that any time soon.
Hey. I don’t normally leave comments, but I just wanted to say thanks for the great information. I have a blog too, though
I don’t write as good as you do, but if you want to check it out here it is. Thanks again and have a great day!
Husqvarna Chainsaws
don’t know if this is blog spam or not – but your blog isn’t designed for the reader it’s designed for search – so it’s no wonder you might be struggling – just saying…
1 What I got from this post is that you are not only trying to help yourself and us but you are doing it by being as transparent in your motives as possible. Refreshing.
2 I’m not sure how I’ll use what the posts have been teaching but I have filed it away in the vault.
3 Tomorrow I would like you to write about how you are going to plan, write and giveaway the free ebook that outlines this evolving strategy in a step by step fashion (sorry to put you on the spot) so that we can use this method regarless of our IM standing.
The comment about relationships, just became that rare “Aha” moment for for me. I’ve always looked at having a relationship with my customers, but never thought of it in terms of personal relationships. Even though I apply many of the same techniques to both, they never crossed.
A few weeks ago, I ran across a saying that applies to personal relationships.
You fall in Love by chance.
You stay in Love by Work.
You fall out of Love by choice.
These are related to personal relationships, but they also apply to business. Customers/clients come to us by “chance.” We keep them by working to meet their needs, and wants, just as we do with those close to us. Then, they stop buying, because we quit caring about them. Just we we stop loving someone, because we choose to. Both cases lead to losing someone. One is a loss of income, the other to emotional pain, for one or both involved.
profound thought walker… i really like that saying and i couldn’t agree more.
you know andrew – just read the archives of this blog… i’ve done it so many times you’ll pick up on a thread that’ll deliver what you are seeking.
This (and the series) is extremely valuable.
I liked the point on learning by watching what you along with learning from what you teach.
On my blog I converse with almost all commenters and email-ers. (In case someone cares, check the recent video and the conversation below it)
For myself, I’ll definitely be looking back at this series after its completion and modelling what you’ve done; especially the part on consistency and doing someting unexpected/unique.
Thanks and looking forward to continually learning from you/your team,
Nahyan
thanks nahyan… please keep me (and everyone else) informed on the results you get from modeling what i’ve done
Honestly, the biggest takeaway registered when reading all the comments and your responses. Too many marketers simply put up posts and disappear… Not only are your responses honest and helpful – they are personal, too WTG!!
The other big gift was the idea that I can slow it down a little, and nothing will “break” or get lost. It will be nice to not be in a rush to learn, implement, learn some more, etc. I can sit back and DO rather than spinning my wheels! Thank you!
I’m working my way out of overload (newbie) and so ditto for what I need right now – which is above all the honesty and the step-by-step stuff. The rest can come later as I learn more.
I’ll leave tomorrow up to you guys – I’m off to Wally World for a legal pad soon as the kids are tucked in, lol -
Rich you are a genius! I once thought of doing something like this on my blog but I hesitated I’ll be revealing a trade secret. I had the fear that a sales weapon won’t be as lethal if the secret reasoning got known.
Well, I guess you will let me know how it goes.
Also this is a good motivation for me. Please keep these crazy tactics series going and don’t stop… As I’ll be duplicating it almost immediately.
And oh! I almost submitted this post spelling “thought” as “taught”.
thanks fisayo… as long as readers come back and continue to comment (that’s the real important one to me) it’ll be extremely hard to stop.
never fear being transparent… in the end, there are no secrets anyway (smile)
what I took away from this post:
1. I feel the same way, writting from another location than the computer but, i never really thought about the beach, which i’m live like 5min away from it.
(I will do it)…because i am a grasshopper and move around alot in my computer and at the end of the day, i have not accomplish anything,,
this will really get me focus: I’m a young grasshopper rich,
thanks for the insight,
1. like the Idea of writing on your journal for an hr…big aha for me…
Wow…doing something unexpected and unique. I will put in motion in my blog.
thank you
hector – you’ve got to get to the beach if you’re that close! but it took me a long time living here before it occurred to me too.
about the journal – in one of my posts i am going to have to write about journaling… i’d say it has been the most influential and biggest cause of my success, happiness, and achievements in life. so stay tuned…
I thought you may want to know that commenting on this post does not work in the latest Internet Explorer for some reason. It even does not show existing comments, I had to restart in FireFox to write this comment. Could affect the number of comments you have.
Writing on a piece of paper – damn – that’s going to save me so much time. If I take nothing else away from these blog posts that’s going to increase my productivity and who knows where that will lead!
Rich,
The most valuable part of this post for me was that you explained exactly how you “pulled me in” to read this blog each day. Even though my schedule is super busy right now I MADE THE TIME to read the blog.
The first thing I’m going to change in my marketing is to focus on the “conversation” approach and get people far more engaged while avoiding as much “monologue” selling as possible.
Here’s my question. I loved your personal responses to our comments. However, considering how busy the average person is in their day-to-day business activities (including you) once you provide this level of personal engagement with your readers, how do you step back from it when needed without disengaging your readers.
Thanks!
ken – i consider that a HUGE compliment that i was able to get you engaged…
and as far as me commenting back – the comments to me are what the post are all about. nothing gets me more excited to come back to the post and see a bunch of new comments… and when i don’t see any, i hear the voice in head say “bummer, maybe that post wasn’t as good as you thought.”
also, commenting back takes very little time for me – funny how writing the post can take me so long but the comments seem to come out of my mind as quickly as i can type – (hmmm…. note to self – i need to understand why that is… sounds like i may have some issue i need to deal with about how i think about the posts)
but if i ever wanted to stop i would do it slowly… a little less each day – but i think it would be unwise to ever stop completely because it does send a message and it’s probably not a message anyone would want to send to their readers
1 – the most valuable take-away you had from this post…
It is possible to attract quality traffic, by engaging your readers, asking them to comment.
Your company is unique in the sense that they send a free gift/report for commenting. Excellent strategy to build trust and make the readers get a sense of belonging.
2 – how you’ll use what I taught you today…
Model your simple but powerful strategy.
3 – what you want me to write about tomorrow
How often to communicate with your list?
Rich, I am wondering about the ‘popularity’ of your posts (that little widget). How’s it recorded and what does it indicate?
sandeep, that’s a good question. i have no idea! i think todd installed it – i guess i’ve got another question for todd.
I just viewed the source of this post and searched for ‘Popularity’ and found the following link that explains it:
http://alexking.org/projects/wordpress/popularity-contest
I can understand Noel’s reaction. He’s too lost the constant “what’s in it for me.” I doubt that you did this because you needed more sales, not that you don’t always look for them. Noel would never understand the idea of giving away valuable product, to gain trust and eventually generate sales, because of his single minded focus.
Once I have my site up, RSN, I will give away the core of the book, in condensed form. I hope that people will get two things from doing that. 1) The core ideas in the book. 2) Decide they want the remaining information and how to apply, from the the book (and pay me for it :-)). So, yes it hopefully will increase sales, but it will help people. The latter reason is the most important, as I’m sure it would be for you.
IOW, people who don’t understand how it needs to be, will probably never do so. Ideally they would wake up to the why’s and what’s, but many can’t. No amount of explaining an get it across, because it requires a complete mental change.
i’m not sure i agree with you walter, although i appreciate the support. i didn’t think noel was that far out there. but the dialogue will continue, and you might be right, or he might just be trying to convey his message in a way that might make him appear naive.
Mesmerised…. Read through the complete thing – all your previous blog posts on this topic and all the replies, starting with the “Questions” post. Took a couple of hours out of an already very busy day.
But only because it was worthwhile.
You see, I recently read How to be Invisible by J.J. Luna, that suggested to me a completely different line of product for one of my companies. A different way of positioning us in the marketplace. I am pretty sure it is a greatly desired service. But I wondered how to find the market that I know is out there, how to engage them, and how to explain something that can be quite complicated. And I am currently reading No B.S. Business Success in the New Economy by Dan Kennedy (having been a “Planet Dan” dweller for years) and trying to figure how to apply Dan’s great ideas to this particular niche.
Your series has awoken an idea that perhaps driving traffic to a blog is the way to go. I will install another blog this afternoon and set about applying these ideas. You’ve motivated me that far already! :)
So yes, please add my voice to the chorus requesting how to do this with a completely new blog and a relatively unknown product.
Thank you Rich.
Dan’s books are great! I’ve read them all!
I’m also a subscriber of his NO BS Info-Marketing newsletter which gets my highest recommendation…
in fact, i was quite honored this month because he started out the newsletter talking about a blog post that your truly wrote and how he agreed with it entirely.
thanks for the feedback – and keep reading because we are going to break these concepts down until they are easy – promise.
Dear Rich,
I would like let you know that your teaching method has literally changed my life You are a very different kind of mentor and educator… that is why i was attracted to strategic profits …. i have spent a lot of years in colleges and universities but i haven’t found anywhere else what I learned from you …. this is an acknowledgment to your entire free reports and products on the founders club… when i first saw your vedio about the founders club… i couldn’t believe what i was watching b/s my mind is wired just like a founder. but it didn’t occur to me that was where i was heading … so I just felt like i found a mentor who just understands what i am going thorough … :)
on the other hand,
i can see how people can miss interpret your teaching
but i think you give away so many valuable lessons b/s you have so much to give …. when people start to be greedy they dont grow exponentially!! they dont look for new ways to improve themselves . They are hung up in one little asset they have and they demand more to give that away, but i think you dont hold back b/s you already know so much more !
enjoy the beach :) i wish i can be there too …
living on the beach is under my ” wants list ” …. i am going to design and build a house by the beach one day and i will send you a big thank you then :) please keep up the good work!!
Rich,
**** P.S ” As i mentioned above, i have been inspired by your teaching methods, and I strongly believe you can take it to a whole new level ! I am working on a fascinating project that I would like you to consider seriously. I highly recommend this project for you! I think you have the power to change so many lives! If you are interested please let me know how to contact you so we can discuss more about the project! **** Thank you ! MA
you know living in on the beach is one of my dreams too. but the house (if you’d even call that – more like a castle) i have my eye on is still a little out of reach.
but it occurred to me a while back i didn’t have to wait to live on the beach to enjoy it! in fact the strategic profits office is only a few blocks away from the office so i just go to the beach first, do my work there and then head into the office.
while the goal has to wait… the enjoyment doesn’t!
1. Doing something different and unexpected gets noticed. Following through with a specific action to engage prospects & customers reading the posts gives valuable feedback. Answering the questions helps understand what the market wants and results in increased sales.
2. I had already planned to engage readers of my blog with questions that I would answer. Now I have more ideas on how to do this better. Thanks.
3. What are some of the strategies we can use to continue this engagement without it losing its effectiveness?
glad your getting value and distinctions roger…
i don’t know how to answer 3 yet… but just keep paying attention and i am sure i’ll come up with some new clever ways.
This is great stuff, border line Genius.
Thank you for doing this. Also the photo of you on the beach with the note pad, very inspiring.
genuis… huh? i’m going to have to show your comment to my wife debi
in the follow up post i show you what the beach office looks like from the outside looking in (sort of)
you can check it out here:
http://www.strategicprofits.com/blog/a-formula-for-business-growth-vcx2p/
Rich, great and inspiring post as always…
However, with the snow piling up outside and the coldest winter in more than 15 years, I believe I’ll just wait a week or two before going to the beach to write. :-)
But you know what… I think I’ll get dressed and take a walk down to the ice-covered Roskilde Fjord. When I get back, I’ll have a cup of tea and start writing.
you can always get a sun lamp hans…. LOL!
Rich,
Great post and great series. I must admit, I’m late to the party.
I read your email yesterday with the subject line, “Blog This Way To Create A Traffic SURGE”.
I was curious so I clicked and read…. now I’m hooked, reading everything in the series.
I kept asking myself, “Why didn’t I know about your Friday post that started this avalanche of activity, interest and interaction?”
I read your blog sporadically, so I don’t go there unless an email triggers it.
Going back over your emails here what I have:
Friday: “Did you get your Makepeace Stimulus Package?”
Tuesday: “Here’s Your 5-Minute Marketing Breakthrough…” Which I didn’t read.
So, in reverse order:
3 – Write about tomorrow (Today)
If you are willing to share what were your stats day by day in terms of how readers got to your blog.
X number via email
y number via RSS
z number via Search Engine
t number via some other significant traffic source
Basically, answer how you got this ball of activity rolling
2 – How I’ll use…
DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!
1 – Most valuable take-aways (MVT)…. Can’t pick just one…
yellow legal pad, No computer, hand writing, at the beach (inspiring place), start every morning (Ritual) journal for an hour, Next, tacked (communicating taking priority over spelling perfection) the most important business task at hand, “WATCHING WHAT I DO vs. READING WHAT I TEACH”
Nice!
Suzy Weiss
DatingSecretsForDivorcedWomen.com
thanks suzy,
one of my goals is to get lots more people who are where you are (don’t come unless an email triggers it) to the point when 10am rolls around they are anxious to read the next post.
so, far there’s been improvement, but not as dramatic as i’d like so i’ll be working more and more on that in upcoming posts… who knows i might incentivize it somehow… right now, i’m not sure.
glad you are getting value out of what i’m writing.
Oh yeah, here’s an update regarding the numbers… yesterday we grew our traffic by another 40% – so we’re getting close to a ten-fold increase from the start! if that’s not encouraging and motivating i don’t what is!
Hey hi rich,
felt great to read your articles & the way you have increased your traffic.I always wondered why i was not able to generate traffic on my blog http://www.hakimjamali.blogspot.com. & had left blogging for a year or so.
Now i came to know tht I did not make it as interactive as you have done it. I will surely apply all the techniques i have learnt & create some breakthroughs & share the results with you.
I am developing my e-commerce website to sell products which I currently sell at my shop, so wanted to know what different things I could implement to create awareness about my site & help people to buy products online.
Best Regards
Hakim Jamali
thanks hakim…
make sure to read the follow up post i wrote – it’s here:
http://www.strategicprofits.com/blog/a-formula-for-business-growth-vcx2p/
it’ll give you more guidance on how to make your blog more profitable faster!
Gee Rich I don’t want to be the bad guy here but I thought you were spending to much time on the beach? For the longest time all we heard from was Todd.
Todd is good but when you get used to hearing from the master and then all of a sudden nothing? Maybe this is the main reason your traffic is down.
I understand we all need a break and glad once again your ass is in the seat and your toes in the sand and now we have something to look forward to again!
Thanks for the lessons!
You aren’t the first person to say that glen… so no offense taken… in fact, i wish more people would of said it sooner so i wouldn’t have made the mistake i made.
the good news is i’m refreshed, recharged, reinvigorated, and ready to tackle your most pressing challenges with you…
My friend forwarded this to me and wow, what great ideas! I am so inspired! LOL
I’m now a huge fan of strategicprofits! KEEP EM COMING!
thanks glenn – and thank your friend for me too.
have you read the next post yet?
I enjoyed the article and thanks because of posting such valuable info seeing that all of us to skim, I become of come upon it both of speak and communicative and I blueprint to grill it as commonly as I can.
1. Most valuable was to see the desired outcome you had behind your actions.
2. I will start by posting a blog post each day for the next month for my readers who wants to Learn Lead Guitar
3. Could you write a bit more on ways to warm up prospects before we make offers?
Thanks Rich, you’re the man!
Hi Rich,
First of all I’d like to thank you for sharing us the golden nuggets in marketing. I’ve only open your e-mail today and I’ve read all your blog posts at one go. Something I’ve never done before. I must say you’re got the power to keep me glued.
The strategy of using questions, tapping in to readers minds and making into a two way session (dialogue) is very appealing. Something that i have not used much in my blogs. No wonder they suffer. Hopefully I’ll use these strategies now.
What I’m hoping from you is help on how to overcome this fear of not being able to deliver what my readers or customers wants. Thus my hesitation on building a list. Also how to get them to buy from me.
Hi Rich
Finally got back to catch up on your posts, and what a remarkable read, Up to here in one sitting (also wrote a post on your posts at same time) I know this has been said many, many times before but you really hit the nail on the head. I now realise why I dont have may readers but that will now change all thanks to this highly insightful session.
The best take away, How you teased us and made reading compulsory it was so easy to create momentum.
Thanks Again
Thank you very much for the very interesting and informative 3 day blog post. I have to say yes I was lazy to not read it right away and copy paste the entire 3 days blog into a word document for later and today I finally read it. I learned that commenting on other peoples blogs especially those related to your own is worth their weight in gold but not just commenting but also interacting (replying to) with readers. So yes right now I am doing my part to be active rather than the majority of passive readers out there. It is true most readers are passive readers. Thank you a million times
