To continue with yesterday’s threads… first question:
What about Rich’s employees? 50 plus of them. That explains how Rich can pull off the marketing strategy that he compiled into a pdf for our Christmas gift. Could an outfit of this size be listed in NASDAQ?
The question with bringing up his employees is that, why aren’t they mavens too? Since they are the ones who research and develop these coaching materials. Shouldn’t they already have striked out as mavens in their respective fields? If so, they are the best proofs that these materials work.
Apart from that, these tools apparently work very well for THIS blog. But then you have 50+ people working their butts off to build the buzz up for BAP Launch.
However, if you are the proverbial hermit working out from his cave, obviously without massive manpower pummeling the vines, and with no outsourcing intentions, how long will it take to craft as intricate a launch as THIS?
By the way Rich, how do you think up all these unique individual events that seamlessly dovetail into the Big Day? How does the timeline to plan and execute them look like? A Mind Map of this process is even more helpful, if you can spare it.
Lastly, if your employees possess the Business Acceleration Secrets, will they all go off and quickly start their own non-competing online biz, for extra income?

To be clear, I think Rich Schefren is the best of the best. I have learned more from him than from anyone else in his “position to influence” us. But what you have written is so amazing it’s actually funny. Thanks for keeping your head.

I must admit that I shed a tear for Rich’s poor employees. They are probably so indebted to Rich that they would not consider becoming “mavens.” Maybe they get a copy of The Business Accelerator program for a Christmas bonus.
Look, here’s the deal; Rich doesn’t reveal the content and specific substance of his program for two reasons:
#1- He doesn’t have to- people will scarf it up anyway.
#2- If he did, people would realize that it doesn’t provide a concrete idea for a viable business, and to apply it takes alot of time and effort. People don’t buy time and effort.
Rich’s launch is a classic example of the direction that Internet marketing is going. Damn the status quo, provide information on a “new” path or direction. Provide proof via examples and/or testimonials. Create scarcity and “buzz” via blogs etc. CLOSE THE DEAL.
This is a smart cookie. Remember, “What this town needs is a band!”

I have always eagerly opened your emails straight away, but since you have started this latest campaign, I feel you have overdone the hype and I do not get the excitement I used to get when receiving info from you.

You are really really popular. I totally get it.
What I got from Gary was be passionate, love your product, love your customers. That is a little different than tireless, breathless self-promotion. In fact, it might be the opposite…do you love you? or do you love the thing you are offering…just rhetorical, i know you are a good guy…my problem is, i’ve read the Attention Age document and i’ve gotten all the emails, and i have no real idea what you are offering…
(i’m busy too, i don’t have time to sift thru mindmaps…good grief, have you people lost your minds that you salivate over mind maps…i’ve got plenty but i’m sure you don’t want mine)

Maybe my poor English confuses me but I understand “hype” as redundant, excessive (SELF) promotion of a product without GIVING anything for free and yes, there’s plenty of hype in most infoproducts for sale on the web.
WE created the hype by receiving an abundance of information very, very valuable (to me at least).
So, as far as I’m concerned, of course this will stop and tomorrow will be “credit card time”, but you know what?
I reaaally would not have minded if this never-before-seen (to my knowledge) approach would have continued till Easter…
(I have so much to learn…).
I don’t know whether Rich has done all that because he is simply an incredible good guy, because he -more and better than anybody else sofar- DOES what he teaches or because he just loves himself (by the way, anything wrong with that? I think he really should.. we too): I would not even ask that question, because it’s his business and life and any of the reasons is good enough for me and I should not even think of judging him.
Finally, Rich has given us more than an idea of what will be sold out in a few minutes tomorrow is all about…
It’s all in his former messages.
All in all, allow me to just give an example.
Suppose you are a Ferrari enthusiast but can only afford to buy old second hand sedans.
One day you meet one guy who invites you for a free ride in his Ferrari.
A week later, he sends you a video of how an engine is build in the Modena factory… something unique and free again.
Then you get Schumacher’s gloves, used during an unforgettable Grand Prix…. free!!!
Would you tell this guy: “listen, don’t you think there’s too much hype? do you do this because you love yourself too much?”
And if this guy would continue, offering you to use for one week his own Ferrari, would you be upset and tell him: “now listen: enough is enough, don’t you ever do me such a favor again, you are overdoing, man”?
Maybe you would. Fine with me.
I would say “thanks a lot my friend; you know, one day I will own a Ferrari too and it will be my pleasure to have you drive mine for a month”…

Great offers to encourage people into the race to buy the Business Acceleration Program and I can imagine that it’s a case of who’s got the luxury of being able to be in front of their PC at the right time and then has the fastest fingers.
I’m confused about the numbers.

I have just updated my posting on The Business Coaching Blog and have found myself voicing some concerns about the frenzy that you have created when people still don’t know what it is they are buying or for how much.
I understand that you want a massively successful of the program and I can see the headline “Rich Schefren sells out his $x million new program in 10 minutes” but you are going to be asking people to spend a lot of money without people being able to make a considered decision.
Paul, I agree. After being in the advertising business for 15 years I can tell you that I despise pressure almost as much as I despise deadlines. And boy do I despise feeling as though I’m being whipped into standing in line, no … jumping to the front of the line by putting everything else in my life aside (God forbid I have to go to the bathroom at 11:59am). And although I appreciate everything Rich Schefren has done and I have learned so much (thank you!) I am certain this offering is not only expensive and worth it … but expensive and out of the logical purchase price of many especially at Christmastime. It is logical to think this because why else would he do all he is doing. I wish I had the money to buy whatever he is offering (and isn’t it funny that we don’t really know?) but I don’t and I wish all of you well who can afford it. As they say, the Rich get richer. I just hope that people like me who really should not be spending this much money right now don’t feel pressured into doing so (pressured by their own feelings of missing out if they don’t). Remember, there is always more to come and always more opportunities … especially coming from someone as smart and rich as Rich. Happy Holidays, everyone!

Rich, I have let my colleagues know to get their Front of the Line pass. I do not view this as a frenzy, but a hungry market that is ready for the real deal. Authentic leadership is so rare these days and when folks recognize it, they respond. At this time of year where some are investing in a 50 inch plasma, I encourage folks to make the investment in their own success that will pay them back over and over again….but only if they take that training and mentoring and put it into consistent action.
If someone purchases this with the thought, “I will try it for 90 days and if it does not work, I will get my money back” I would say, keep your credit card in your pocket. Do or do not. There is no try. If you make the investment, take all out massive action and enjoy the process learning and growing daily.

I have read everything that you have to offer and watched intentively as to how you are rolling out this launch. But unfortunately I have seen this happen time and time again, just in different ways.
I too, am of the working class (and it’s a must) or I don’t pay the rent. (Some bosses just don’t understand the magnatude of the internet or care less) what a shame I can not be apart of this offer.
I came on board to see if this marketing concept could help in promoting a ministry to help others. And everything on the surface appears viable and informative. But when it comes to money to spend, I just can’t do it.
I’ll keep ready and apply what I can understand and take the slow road, maybe some things will take flight and maybe the won’t. I’ll have to leave it in God’s hands.

I have a technical question, people… Rich tells us to wait for noon EST… I’m in the UK and the countdown gives the impression that I’m actually waiting for noon in my own time zone. Could we please clear up which noon you have in mind?

I’m in UK too & I see your problem. The launch is noon EST i.e. 17:00 UK time. The countdown is using your own computer’s time rather than Rich’s server hence the misleading countdown. Ignore the countdown & just use your clock.

I think I’ve figured out what’s going on.
The counter is a javascript… the thing is
the target day for the counter is
TargetDate = “12/20/2007 12:00 PM”;
It doesn’t include the timezone, so no matter where
you are it will display how long will it take to your
computer to reach the date, but in your timezone.
In the webpage of the developer it says how to solve
it:
They should change the TargetDate to
TargetDate = “12/20/2007 12:00 PM UTC-0500″;

Congratulations on a masterful manifestation of using your Attention Age doctrine to:
a. Generate buzz and word of mouth
b. Generate traffic
c. Build a list
d. Establish relationships with your listmembers
e. Create an anticipation in your product launch
Even if we can’t get the BAP, we can take away lessons from this process if we lay out the process and then apply it to our own businesses.
The only thing I would be wary of is disappointing the 58,500 or so people who won’t get the BAP.
On the other hand, every business knows that it can’t match the demand for its products and services.
So maybe there’s an opportunity to reach out to the “almost made it to the front of the line” market?

I think the “breathless anticipation” just gees everyone up to talk about the BAP and generate frenzy and curiosity. Sounds great to create a “scarcity” issue with your product and cause a major rush. It’s clever marketing which will work for some an others will hate but the winners will be those who get front of line.
Regarding the clock, hi Cathy, I too am in the UK. I think that the clock resets itself according to your clock linked with your IP address. So ignore the clock and just work with what’s stated.
Hopefully, Rich’s team will see this post and make a note of the clock to be fixed to EST and not adjust itself.

Ok, for those who took my earlier post at direct face value, here’s a clarification. First, I think Rich is a brilliant marketer and that he and the others have given us way, way, way too much beyond the “free line.” All of his materials deliver — So HE is The Real Deal. Beyond a believer, I could be a zealot, an advocate at minimum for all that I’ve seen from him.
As for the second comment, he has studied under Jay, and I believe Rich has taken many of Jay’s devastingly effective concepts, updated and ‘translated’ them for Web 2.0 application. With Jay’s track record from the 1980’s and 90’s, what something like 8 Billion, before they stopped tracking it, it is a compliment. I’m certain that Rich’s numbers will be much higher when his students apply these techniques and he finally stops tracking it someday far into the future.
And, I suspect Rich introduced Agora to 2.0 style marketing, or at least helped implement it for them. All of the above, along with some others mentored by Rich, I value, respect and thank right here for their valuable information, both free and the significant investments I’ve made with them. All well worth every single penny!
Now, as for my other “going off” comments. Yeah, I was pissed at getting “locked out” of the early deal, frustrated for spending a half-hour trying to figure it out and just being plain dumb about it. Whipped-up into a frenzy by expertly calculated and carefully-crafted design, knowing it, and still getting ticked, so much so that I sent an email to Rich right then. (Though it could be a super-advanced strategy and technique, make it so they apparently can’t sign-up even when they try? Infuriation at you by intention?) Then later I get a JV partner offer on the launch & got really pissed all over again.
No, there were no laws broken, other than maybe Rich violating “the law to charge as much as possible.” This product is probably worth easily several times the price he’s asking. Maybe he’ll raise it when the results come in…
Now for the last part — I think that anyone who attempts to copy this launch of Rich & Team’s without their direct guidance and education in doing so, could possibly get themselves into serious trouble. Note how many posted their frustration with trying, desperately, as I admittedly did, to get to the front of the line. Done wrong, some could use this and really screw up. Drawing and Getting the Attention of certain agencies could be deadly serious stuff. Losing customers is bad enough in itself.
So my compliments to the entire team for what has to be the
most sophisticated, meticulously engineered and crafted launch yet. Rich, you have just most successfully demonstrated how and why You Are THE Maven of 2.0.
