I think I have a great idea for a vertical search engine (US, UK, AU, NZ) site but don’t have capital to bring in initial traffic. Long term it will survive from strong SEO links but initially it will take time. Should I seek venture capital or offer 3 month or longer free trial at the start?

    Hey Rich,

What would you do to take advantage of the financial crisis in america (if you were in the financial biz) such has the huge losses people are experiencing with their 401k’s and IRA’s if you had an incredible program that could really help those people with high fixed rates ranging from 8% – 23% (which are unheard of) but don’t have a lot of marketing capital? Would you just put up a blog and use something like traffic geyser to get traffic??

    Hi Rich,

Constraint: How to go from offline to online

My partner and I have a great relationship with an “offline” powerhouse in a very large market relating to health and personal development. He speaks to thousands of people in seminars every year and has a very successful corporate (training / coaching) business as well.

My question is: What is the best way to determine what online business model we should pursue to maximize his current off-line exposure and help create the same success online?
    Thanks

    Hi Rich,

Man.. you must be tired. I was watching you before I went to bed 12am eastern time. Hang in there amigo.

I’m currently on page 33 of your report and after listening to the legendary conference call I got to thinking about what my #1 constraint is.

My website currently generates a little over $1,000 a month and I more often than not, I find myself stuck and not knowing what to do next to grow my business. The most obvious solution was to focus on optimizing my website to get more pages ranked on the 1st page of Google. Upon further analysis, I came to the realization that my problem is I don’t know what activities I’m doing are producing results. Essentially, I don’t know if I’m doing things the right way. I’m leaning more and more on outsourcing projects… Your report has addressed most of the obstacles I’m facing but I’m having an information overload…my question is…

Do you offer a program or service that can have someone perform an analysis and work with me one on one to determine where I need to focus and where I can stop wasting time?

    Hey Rich,

I am in the financial business and have a great product of fixed rate retirement accounts of 10% – 23%.

How would you take advantage of the financial crisis with people losing tons of money in their 401k’s and IRA’s to market a tremendous financial product like that without a lot of marketing capital?

Would you create a blog and use something like traffic geyser to get the traffic to get clients?? How would you market something that sounds almost “too good to be true”?

    Shalom,
    Chris

    Hi Rich,

I run a successful seminar company in the UK.

We do stock market education and have done so for the last 2 years.

I now want to expand this worldwide and we are having our next seminar video’d to create a home-study course.

What is the best way to launch this online, should we ship the course out, create an online learning centre or both. Also what is a good price -point for a stock market product online.

Also – we offer a subscription for stock trades. Would it be wise to set up a seperate sales page for the trades?

As you can probably tell, my main aim is to get as many purchasers of the product and then get them onto the subscription.

You see in the UK we provide a mentoring service, do you have any ideas how this could be introduced for a world-wide audience. Which software to use…

    Thanks

    Hi Rich,
Thanks so much for doing this!
I am running an online business with a partner. The company is now finally bringing in profits. During the time we have been in business together I have learned that my values and philosophies are not the same as my partner’s. I am passionate about the business while my partner only cares about the bottom line and nothing else. I see this person is more of an investor than a business/owner partner because other than putting up the money to start the company, he hasn’t done anything else to bring any value to the company. I have all these ideas and things I want to implement to grow the company yet having thie person as a partner is a big setback and constraint because it frustrates me when I think about this person as a partner.
What do you think is the best way to overcome this constraint?

    Hey Rich,

    Good Stuff!! My question is:

How can I know for sure that I’ve successfully identified my constraint.

When people have told you their constraint, sometimes you’ve said that it might be just a symptom and that they should to dig deeper.

So how can I know for sure?

    Thanks,
    Kyle

  • Jon

I am trying to identify my constraint. My online business does not make enough for me to go full-time . . . which is something I greatly desire. I run a one-man limo service that burns up a lot of time and it keeps me away from my web business. Is my constraint the limo business because it keeps me away from the web business or is my constraint the income from the web business that does not allow me to “Go Pro”?

    Great stuff Rich!

    Thank you,

    Jon

I’ve been taking a hard look at my own constraints and one thing I’ve noticed is that I am trying to do it all myself.

    My question is:

If you could only develop 3 skills yourself and outsource the rest, what would you decide to be an expert in – copy writing, email marketing, technical, etc. etc. etc.

(So basically I’m asking what the most expensive/hardest skills are to buy?)

    Thanks,

    Hello RIch,
question for you thats really stoping me..

my constraint is knowing if the french market
    is viable or not…

im interested in getting in the french markets for infoproducts, but there doesnt seem to be a lot of those.

Im wondering if its a good thing to go in, because like i said there doesnt seem to be a lot of french info products, but maybe its just the case that the french market is in its infancy, compared to the english markets.

    So..

Is it a good thing to into, this french market?
How do i assess that market better?

    thanks tons!!

Hi Rich, thanks for your useful advice.

My site is mainly a content site in the time management niche and 90% of my visitors come from Google search not Adwords, so my main income stream is from adsense.

The only thing I’m doing now is creating more articles for my visitors. I am planning to give my visitors with an e-course and e-book.

My question is: What advice would you give me market my e-book and e-course more effectively instead of just placing an opt in form on my website?

    Thanks a lot Rich.

  • http://www.lingerieandperfume.co.uk Tidders

I sell lingerie online from my website. I have done some on page seo and off page seo. I am doing OK with the search engines but could be better.

I am building a small opt in list.
I make sales everyday but not enough.

I here lots said about membership sites, monthly recurring incomes, continuity programmes (which seem good for consumable products that run out) big box back end sales etc.

How does that transfer across to something such as clothing or underwear. Or if it doesn’t,
what is the one thing you would concentrate on now to take my business to the next level?

    Hi Rich.

This is much appreciated. I have a small online womens clothing business. I am having a hard time focusing in on niche topics to compliment my business (such as content to put in a blog or website).

My question is, can you still be successful without putting yourself out there like you and others in internet marketing? I prefer to stay behind the scenes.

    Thanks…John

  • http://www.lingerieandperfume.co.uk Tidders

Perhaps I should have included that I get 200-300 visitors a day and make 3- 5 sales per day so perhaps conversation is low.

But it is difficult to know what is the priority to tackle here.

The conversation rate, the traffic, going for a recurring income (if that were possible,) the big box back end, (if that were possible,) or build the list bigger and bigger by offering them free stuff (which I will pay for) and email them special offers.

  • Jaden

    Hey Rich,

Thanks for this opportunity. I’m not sure how much you can help with a mental constraint but maybe you’ve met this before.

I provide a service like building a website for example from time to time and I find that I work my ass off for my client and hand them spiffy work. Yet when I have to work on my own virtual real estate it takes me ages and I have a trail of unfinished projects behind me.

I don’t really like client work but I do better at it than my own stuff! I grew up doing a lot of volunteer work and come from a family as well that donates a lot of quality work to organizations while not making much money. Guess we’ve not been entrepreneurial.

I’ve been trying ways to ‘reprogram’ my mind so I make that shift over to valuing my own skills and becoming a real entrepreneur. Any suggestions on reading material or other ideas to help change my way of thinking?

Any other strategies to get rid of the debilitating constraint of a fear of failure / fear of making mistakes?

    Thanks,

    Hi Rich

    CITY GUIDES – cash/ business boost needed…

I want to max the potential for my web business focussing on city guides.

My key contraint is the fact I have to stick with my (busy!) day job and I just don’t have enough time to max things out with building the web business.

What would you pick – if you had to pick just ONE way to build cash income on the back of a “city guide” topic?… a single approach that would have most potential to build income high enough to allow me to dump that day job and free-up the time to build this properly.

Thanks (you still look wide awake – how are you doing this!?) :)

    best…

BECOME DEADLINE Oriented! However small that comment Rich made earlier this morning, without understanding the necessity of working within deadlines – self set – to accomplish any kind of work, whether it be a an hour, a day, a month, or a season, it is far more easier to get through any project when one sets a deadline for oneself.
I was fortunate to work for newspapers and a magazine early on in my career life so deadlines have come become second nature to working from home –
Granted, it make takes some time to get “regulated” at this but if you just segment your time, you will get far more done than ever before.

  • http://scenic276.com Karen

Ok – I just posted something regarding deadlines and then I looked at the post above me. It fits here too – I understand the working at a job while trying to build a business – it still begins with focusing in on what you can accomplish and in what time parameter. Of course, I’m not telling you what you need to know about the “where to begin part” – just that you have to put an extraordinary amount of time and focus in on doing both. Been there. It’s tough but doable.

Rich – you rock! I hung in for about 18 of your 26 hours. HOW DID YOU DO IT?!?!! I would have been incoherent in about half that time…

I asked a question around 2 AM about starting an internet business with a lot more time than money, and your response was very helpful – and led me to pull up and re-read your Manifesto: the Missing Chapter. Luckily for me, my INTERESTS and STRENGTHS both dovetail in the winery blog I’ve recently started, but thanks to your help, I’ll be much more aware of that distinction!

My take-away from your 26 hour marathon? It was ABSOLUTELY about taking a fresh look at what’s holding me back.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! Now – go home to those beautiful girls of yours.

    Hi, Rich,

Thanks a bunch! … for spending the past 26 hours with us. And thank you for the powerful free report. I’ve barely started reading the report (as I wanted to listen to you as much as I could), but I have already gained lots of valuable information. Yes, some of the info in the report has already hit me kind of hard, but it is exactly the kind of advice I have been seeking in order to open my eyes and see what is holding me back. My main constraint is definitely #4 – An Inefficient Work Style, and I feel I now have the ammunition I need to tackle it as well as other constraints.

I want to throw out a quick “thank you” to Yaro Starak for introducing me to you. I am thrilled to have found both of you.

    Rich,

Absolutely Fantastic. I didn’t know you where doing this until I checked my email this morning at 5:00am. So I began watching at about 5:10am and didn’t leave until you brought it to an end at 2:00pm.

I especially liked that tip about using a blog to track your competition. I guess tips like that are what set the pro’s apart from the hobbyists…I never would have come up with something like that on my own — that was a gem. Thanks!

Of course, everything you’ve been saying about constraints has also been a real eye opener. It makes perfect sense, when you stop to examine things from that perspective. Insightful…

    Thanks again,

    THANKS FOR STOPPING !!!

I mean that seriously! I couldn’t handle another day being glued to your live stream. I was meant to be looking after my wife because she had her wisdom teeth out a day or 2 ago :) Lucky she picked up the ball there and looked after herself and our 15 month old little girl :)
So, you stole my whole day from me! (thanks)

How did it end up? I would love to have been there at the end.. Sounds like it might have gone to 26 hours?

Thanks so much for your time and so much valuable information. I learn well from lectures, discussions and other real life questions and answers.
I tuned in at 6am Aussie time when you were 4 hours in. I finished up at midnight, so about 18 hours. I took a few breaks (more than you were able to) and made plenty of notes.

Now today I am going to be busy overcoming my number 1 constraint.

I wonder if ‘dropping everything’ to watch your live feed was a ‘weakness’ of mine. I don’t see it like that. I think I am fortunate to be able to have flexibility to ‘re prioritize’ quickly and take this as an ‘opportunity’.

(hmm, yes this ‘flexibility’ to ‘prioritize’ can be a constraint and something I need to control – my attention can be yanked all over the place)

Something Yaro Starak said in dealing with information overload, is to select a few reputable information sources and trust them. You are one of my few information sources.

I also learned a lot about myself and how I operate my attention in long bursts of focus, lead time to get into the zone on deep analysis tasks.

    Thanks Again..
